A reliever for all of his career, hasn't made a start since A ball.

    Braden Looper for the Cardinals.

gave up a scratch basehit in the first, but struck out Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran.

    Pretty impressive first inning.

    Yeah it is.

    6 innings 3 runs, 5 hits, 1 walk I believe, 4 strikeouts.

    of a job.

    Looper looked good.

Bullpen really let you down tonight. 2 hits didn't help either.

The Cardinals defense looked bad this series. I wouldn't be too worried about the offense, cause they are gonna rake the ball. I'd be worried about the defense and the bullpen.

As a Mets fan, sweeping the champs in St Louis feels good but doesn't come anywhere near making up for the pain of Game 7 last year. Hoopefully the Mets can get back to that point again.

The defensive miscues were made by bench players, so Im not totally worried about that.

Agreed with the offense, Pujols will snap out of it, Chris Duncan just wailed a 2 run homer tonight, and others will get better.

The starting rotation is shaping up nicely suprisingly.

it should be very non interesting to see wandy give it up all night. looks like he is actually pitching decent, surprisingly. i don't know how you can not go after a 4/5 lefty when all you have is wandy, it's just stupid.

Well to their defense, there wasn't anyone wortha crap.

Wolf wanted to go home to LA.

Mulder isn't gonna be back till June, and who knows if hes even worth a crap.

Other than that, Ted Lilly? No thanks.

Astros pitching will be just fine, they always come up with young pitchers.

Damndest team for pitching I've ever seen.

i just don't understand keeping wandy around. he pitches well every 4th or 5th start. has decent stuff, has never got it done enough to keep him around this long imo.

When Homer Bailey comes up the Reds are easily going to have the best rotation in the Central. And that is a weird thing to say. With Harang and Arroyo at the top they have one of the top duos in the league. If we can get decent seasons from Kyle Lohse and Matt Belisle they could do some damage this season. That being said, I'm really worried about the bullpen. Very old and without a bonafide closer. Offense should be fine as always, and the defense is improved. Damn optimism. Gets me every year.

how old is Wandy, if hes older than 28 I agree.

If hes 25 or 26, then id disagree.

    possibly so.

    Itll be Reds and cardinals.

All depends on how the youngins pitch.

    Kip Wells looks good.

    Braden Looper looked suprisingly good.

Adam Wainwright was a stud tonight.

    Carpenter will be Carpenter.

It all hinges on Anthon Reyes and if he can learn to pitch to contact, get the pitch count down, and get 6 or 7 innings a start.

If he can do that, then the Card's rotation is tough to beat.
