Jax was trying to fight, but after a while everything had pretty much calmed down. Then Wallace threw a towel at Artest and got everything started again.

Kori, LJ, User, SW and I were at Firehouse when this came on.

IIRC, Vernon Maxwell's suspension was 10-13 games.

Jackson and Artest have a legitimate shot at being suspended for the whole season, Fred Jones will probably go for 10-15.

Whether or not the fans instigated it - which they did and deserve to face criminal charges for it - you can't go into the stands.

I don't say give all the blame to Artest as Duff does. Artest was lying on the scorer's table when he gets it from nowhere, Jax goes ing nuts and will probably face the most overall.

I think Artest and Jackson will face criminal charges as do a number of the Pistons fans, Artest and Jax have a good shot at missing at least half the season.

Sad night, but it will open discussion towards fans and alcohol and sporting events.

I think the guy who is a bigger punk that is making off like a bandit in all this is Jermaine O'Neal. Forget the fact that he sucker punch the towel boy that was on the floor, he tried to jump in the stands near the tunnel and fight fans. Then went back out after being inside the tunnel. What a punk.

Getting a beer cup thrown at you by a fan doesn't cons ute jumping into the stands and punching people.

It was the fault of the players and the fans.

Kori, these pro athlets are pumped full of testosterone, it is almost impossible to have that happen to you in the heat of the moment and not retaliate...impossible, I say. I have gotten into fights in softball games over less, because we were all amped up and some does something that cause things to boil over...Artest was wrong, but it is totally understandable and in my mind justified.

Jermaine O'Neal laid a horrible punch on a fan or towel boy that was getting up off the ground. He's got to have a serious suspension too.

I'm also very disappointed that Mike Brown was involved. As a coach, he should know better, both from a right and wrong angle, and an "I'm only a coach and may actually get fired over this" angle. Not very smart.
    .
I may be wrong about Mike Brown. I saw an earlier clip now and he may have had a grey suit on. So he probably wasn't the one involved later.

Sometimes what is natural and expected is still not justifiable. While many players may have reacted as Artest did, it doesn't mean he is any less accountable.

Forgot about O'Neal...he's gonna get a long suspension as well. One approaching Jax and Artest.

Duff, what did you want Artest to do. He was chilling on the table. Had the fans left well-enough alone, he wouldn't have gone off.

It just means you have no self control. The most important test of someones ability to handle themselves and maintain control is in the heat of the moment. It happens in sports...we bash players who can't hack the pressure and they don't last long. The same goes for the average person who is thrown something as insignificant as a plastic cup of beer.

Kori and Duff were right...Artest got a plastic bottle thrown at him...he should have let security kick the guy out...he didn't get hurt...

He went into the stands and attacked an innocent fan...and then Jax went and beat the out of the guy as well.

That poor Pistons ball boy got his ass totally kicked and he didn't do anything either...a fan came onto the floor the ballboy was trying to get him off the floor...Person just started wailing on him and then when he got up O'Neal went and hit him with a running haymaker. He coulda killed that ballboy.

Artest was not at fault..until he went into the stands like the dumbass hothead that he is.

The people at fault in this...

    Ben Wallace...
    Stephen Jackson
    Artest
The fan that threw the beer
That big fan that went and started sucker punching guys in the back of the head.

But Jax and Artest both deserve a major ing lawsuit...thrown at them.

They went into the stands and physically assaulted a much smaller innocent man. I mean they cleaned this guys clock and he didn't do a damn thing.

Artest had a chance to be a stand up guy, but instead he over-reacted like the dumbass he is....and escalated this thing into a brawl by going into the stands.

He should just gotten over the plastic cup hitting him...and let the security do it's job.

I hope Artest and Jax get their asses sued off like the dumb s they are for going and assaulting an innocent man.

He wasn't a towel boy. He was the fan that squared off against Artest after most of the original fight was over.

He hit the towel boy who was trying to get the fan off the court. That towel boy didn't do anything to anyone exept try and get the fan off the court.

Indiana's Finals hopes just went out the window with these upcoming suspensions.

There's no way the NBA low-balls these suspensions with the outrage that will be expressed by mainstream America.

No it was the towlboy...who had been trying to get the fan off the court.

The fan that was on the court was a white guy with a baseball cap on..and towel guy was trying to pull him off the court.

The guy that was hitting Artest in the back of the head was big black dude.

You can tell the difference...the towel boy looked mexican, the big dude that was hitting Artest in the back of the head was dark black...and the guy that ran on the court was a white guy.

Kori, it's the guy in the Detroit jersey and the Tigers "D" hat. He comes at Artest in a fighting stance - kind of doing that Jax step at him. Artest swings and knocks him down, then O'Neal (it looked like) comes in and clocks him square and lays him out.

No they aren't the same person...the guy I am talking about that was getting some good shots in on the back of Artests head was a black dude...not the intial fight where Artest went and attacked the guy in glasses but when they were trying to get Artest off the court a bit later...

You've got the wrong guy...the guy that O'Neal clocks is just an innocent towel boy. The guy that Artest hit was just some fan that tried to come in and fight....and the towel boy was trying to throw him off the court.

Somebody got hit by Artest after Artest came back on the court. This guy gives a stutter-step to Artest. Ron swings at him and somebody comes in and just lays the "kid" out. Either O'Neal or Jax.
