"Extra" has learned that Jennings' historic loss was really a carefully orchestrated media event. Tuesday night's show was actually taped on September 7th and held back by producers. In fact, during the show you can see the audience wearing short-sleeved shirts, even though Los Angeles has had record-cold temperatures this week.

Marc Berman, a senior TV writer for Media Week, explained the delay: "They knew way back when Ken Jennings was going to lose and they timed it specifically so he would lose right at the end of the November sweeps."
