UPDATED: Worker freed from hook that impaled him

A man has been freed from a hook that impaled his head this morning at Holt Caterpillar on the city’s Southeast Side, authorities said.
The man was cut free of the hook shortly before 10 a.m. and will be airlifted to a hospital.
Earlier, a surgeon was flown to the site to help rescue the injured man.
Joe Carreon, marketing manager for Holt Caterpillar, told reporters that the employee had "a very serious accident this morning."
"The employee is in critical condition," he said.
Authorities have not identifed the worker, but Carreon said the man’s family has been contacted.
"Most importantly, we are focused on doing whatever we can to ensure that the employee receives the best medical care available," Carreon said.
The accident occurred in the 3300 block of South W.W. White Road at about 9 a.m.
Holt is the largest U.S. Caterpillar equipment dealer and sells, rents, leases and services new and used Caterpillar equipment, engines and generator sets in stores stretching from the Rio Grande to the Red River, many located along the Interstate 35 corridor.
