Then you can thank Jones for not starting an altercation and not getting Tim Duncan suspended.

The rule is during an altercation. There was no altercation so it wasn't mandatory that Duncan be suspended.

the altercation was jones and sisqo got tangled up under the basket. THAT WAS WHY TIM DUNCAN WAS ON THE FLOOR, THAT'S WHY BRUCE HAD TO GET HIM, AND THAT'S WHY THAT PIECE OF DESERVED TO GET SUSPENDED

Players get tangled up all the time. Tangled up does not equal altercation. Elson didn't get up and make any move for Jones, no punches were thrown, no pushing or shoving. You keep bringing that up as your main defense but it just isn't plausible. You need to look up the definition of "altercation."

Getting tangled up with someone is not an altercation. An altercation is somewhat a fight. There was nothing fight-related happening. So no suspension.

Fighting isn't the only type of altercation. Anything that resembles a fight or could lead to a fight is also an altercation. Jumping up and charging at a player, getting in his face, and talking are all examples of an altercation. Also Bell and Horry got into a shoving match. These things aren't allowed in NBA games by rule, it's not the NHL.

If you're going to troll, you should at least resort to funny like this more often instead of arguing over things that can't be changed.

Horry hipchecked Nash and he got walloped out of bounds. From there Raja Bell and Steve Nash got in Horry's face and there was a little shoving and such. Amare and Boris at that moment left the bench area to join and no one know what they would've done. Then they were pulled back to the bench. It all simmered out then we went back to playing the game.

Elson attempted a dunk over James Jones. After the attempt, he fell over James Jones and they got tangled up. But note that there was no talking or shoving or anything altercation-wise that went on during that point. Duncan and Bowen both got off the bench to argue maybe about possible a foul on James Jones. But note that they were not a part of an altercation and there was no altercation occurring.
Just curious, while I agree that the rule was applied correctly, do you believe that what Amare and Boris did was ethically deserving of a suspension.

No, but it was a rule that had to be enforced. I think they should do away with it and from now on have the league make the decision accordingly.

I totally agree, but there's no way that you're going to see David Stern admit he's wrong. The league should've just done away with it in 1997, but instead they thought that they had to "act tough" and stick to their guns. Now there's no way they can save face and back out of the rule, even though you know this is going to come up again. Which sucks for basketball in general, because I'm pretty sure that all fans would rather see the game decided on the court rather than in the league offices.
