Blazers in 4![/TlongII]
Oden has knee pain, will undergo exploratory surgery
Trail Blazers rookie center Greg Oden is expected to undergo exploratory arthroscopic knee surgery on Thursday after enduring pain in his right knee.
Blazers officials would not comment on the situation beyond a four-sentence news release issued Monday evening that said Oden underwent an magnetic resonance imaging last week, revealing that the 7-foot center may have some "cartilage problems" in the knee.
Oden, who was selected No. 1 in June's NBA draft, had been taking part in voluntary workouts in Portland with other NBA players in preparation for the season, which starts in October. It is unknown exactly how Oden hurt his knee.
A timetable for Oden's return will be set following the arthroscopic surgery.
Trail Blazers team physician Dr. Don Roberts is expected to perform the surgery at Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, Wash.

Wow...not good for the blazers.....hopefully he'll be back soon....what's the usual timeline for a 37 year old coming back from an injury like this....
He might retire before the All-Star Break.
Wow cant wait for opening night now Spurs Blazers minus Oden
told you, he is the next KWAME BROWN / Darko
Durant is the next Carmelo Anthony , = the real deal in this draft
Like the sound effect...he'll be back strong...and we'll forget about this....
I don't know, if he has torn cartiledge it would be very similar to the injury that is keeping Terry Glenn out for the season for the Dallas Cowboys. Also, as a 7 ft. guy his knees take on a lot more stress than a 5'11'' guy like Glenn. The kid's young so he should be back but it might not be for a while.
weak knees, not good news for the trailblazers for years to come.
ohh thats gota suck for Oden. Hopefully this isn't death to his budding career.
not everyone can be duncan... there's only one.
i second that.
Man, that sucks for Oden. I wonder if my conspiracy theory was correct?

WTF? There's a difference between being horrid (Kwame, Darko), and being injury prone. Don't say he's going to suck then act like you knew wtf your were talking about when he gets injured.

this mother er better recover fast. he has to prove whether he was worth all the hype and all his fan boys saying he's "better than durant".
Sucks for him and the Blazers. I hope it's not serious.
But I agree with the people that Durant is the real #1 pick.
@Poland - making fun of Oden without making fun of the injury
told ya!
He shoulda got rid of me when he had the chance.
