This may be one of the greatest threads of all-time!
The Wolves are over the lux tax right now I believe, so it had to be a trade exception (and there are news reports that this only went down due to the exception they got in the Ricky Davis and company trade last week).
Yes, it did, but that was how many years after the original deal? According to NBADraft.net that was from the Errick Barkley trade (that was in 2002). The pick was originally a 2003 2nd round pick, protected. This suggests that we have until 2012 to collect...

Usually, the protection on a pick decreases as it gets older ... ie if its protected to bottom 4 in 08, maybe bottom 8 in 09, and bottom 12 in 2010.
and you repeatedly fail to
Just wait. The Holt Haters around here will suddenly be moaning about the FO getting rid of Beno only because Holt is so cheap and motivated only by the money he saved with this trade.

HOLY CRUD!!!!!!! Just saw the news and I couldn't believe what just happened!!!!!
OMG This deal just made my day! What the was McHale thinking?
Could it be that Pop made him an "offer he couldn't refuse"??????

magnusdrakenkrauss
??? it doesn't explain ish.
Won't be missed ... toodle-loo buckaroo.
Because the Spurs paid the Wolves more than it cost them to waive him.
I think you'll find in the minds of most of this board this is among the greatest things Holt has ever done.
I honestly didn't think it would happen.
I'm pretty sure it's already been said in the previous 9+ pages, but this is a clear indication to me that the Spurs are impressed and confident in Darius Washington.
Spurs could've traded Beno away for scraps at any time in the past two years, but it took them having real confidence that there wouldn't be a void left with his departure (as well as the monetary incentive) to make the deal.
Am I right to assume Washington will get some serious burn over the next couple weeks?
If so, I'm excited to see what he can bring....
Wonderful news. I never have to see that waste in a Spurs uniform again.
I read somewhere that Washington was being pimped as the equal to Telfair, back when he wasnt a bust, when he was in highschool - is that true?
Has he got his head on straight? Is he spurs material, or a 'baller'? (The article said the reason telfair made it to the pros easier, was Washington was too arrogant and only would pass to teammates if they played defence - surely thats a good thing)
And thank goodness (sorry groupies) that Beno is gone - last thing the Spurs need or want is a cancer in the lockerroom as he was being reported to becoming...
OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! This is ing breaking news. This is the craziest piece of news I've heard all summer...........OMFG............................. ........WOW WOW I gotta read this whole thread.
great start to the season.
spurs tradeded a first rounder for a 2nd![]()
but beno does suck![]()
Damn..half the forum is in here!!! Sorry Beno, Good Luck in Minnesota. You will be closer to Rasho in Minnesota then here. Best Wishes.
I remember him getting Rookie of the Week during his first year here and got to participate in the rookie challenge. Then after that he took a downturn and never recovered. So long and farewell!
Welcome Darius!![]()
