Here's quasi-confirmation on the Beno waived part of the transaction:

The Timberwolves finalized their roster late this afternoon, releasing Wayne Simien and placing Juwan Howard on waivers after a contract buyout as expected. They also made a last-minute deal that only makes sense in the convoluted world of NBA salary-cap specifics. San Antonio sent to the Wolves guard Beno Udrih and cash for a protected 2006 second-round draft pick that never will be delivered. The Wolves then waived Udrih and the Spurs got some salary-cap relief. Got it? I sure don’t.

Your 15 Timberwolves who will open the season at home Friday night against Denver are:

Randy Foye, Rashad McCants, Craig Smith, Mark Madsen, Marko Jaric, Corey Brewer, Chris Richard, Greg Buckner, Michael Doleac, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair and Antoine Walker. All but Foye, McCants, Smith, Madsen and Jaric are new to the team.

This trade tells me the Spurs are higher on Washington than I originally thought. Beno sucked but he was at least good enough for use in an emergency.

Washington now has a great opportunity. It sounds like he's going to open the year as the backup point guard. If he plays well enough, Pop is the type of coach that will allow him to keep that job. Even if Washington eventually fails, Vaughn would just need a few games to warm up and be ready for the playoffs.

I kinda like the idea of making Washington the backup point guard for the first couple months of the season to see how good he is. At worst, Pop has Vaughn to fall back on. At best, Washington can provide more than Vaughn and be another weapon for this team.

Dwayne Jones has looked incredible on the boards, but sucks in every other aspect. Not Europe - I'm not letting him go there Probably DLeague to start the season.

I decided this morning day dreaming in some boring seminar to open a Dragic thread because he is impressive in Adriatic league.

Playing really good and CONSISTENT.
(he would be even better if he would join the team sooner but i think because of some delays with his status he joined the team just at the start of the season-didnt play first game or so)


anyways, his average numbers at the moment for 7 played games are:

61.2 overall FG
66.7% 2point FG
46.2% 3point FG
75.0% free throws
3.2 rebounds
4.5 assits
2.2 steals
-and we all know he can play great defence (at least he did play it on Parker and some others in Euro 2007)
-he is just 21
