I actually kind of feel sorry for the Sixers. What a -slap by Manu...
Up next Chewfingers and the Cavs
In all the Manu flurry at the end, Duncan ended up steady from the second quarter on.
18 points on 8-14
16 boards, 6 offensive
6 assists
2 blocks
2-3 FT
only 1 TO
Bump. Same old January story.![]()
Yup, I think Igudala yelled at Manu or something, then Tim came over to tell him to cut it out...I love it when teammates stand up for each other...
And Manu, WOW, 4 threes all in the fourth quarter!!!! And here I thought the whole game, his hand was hurting...he came through big time!
And why would you leave him open after he already makes like 3 threes in a row?![]()
I though rasho was![]()
yeah by the 4th one, I was wondering how stupid the 76ers were to let it happen the 4th time..
but I like how Timmy saw he was on fire from beyond the arc, and kept feeding him. It was cool to see him wait just enough to set Manu up for them.
Tonight there is a tie.![]()
I was pleased that Timmy told Iggy what is up.
Bump! Halleluha![]()
If you watched the game, the wide open shots for Manu started happening when they initiated the play by dumping it down into Duncan, and sure enough, one of the Philly wing player would double down and TD would swing it back out to Manu for an open 3. This is so much easier than for Manu or TP to try to slither their way through the paint for layups in a half-court set. Pop should really go back to 4 Down more often until the defense stops doubling up TD (in which case TD could get his 35+ when single covered).
I think the Spurs in the recent years have become more guard/penetrate oriented team....perhaps too much. It seems to me that we should go inside more often and let TD dictate what the defense does, and then make his decision/play. IF they double him, he can dump back out to TP, Manu, fInley, or Bowen and they can do their thing whether its drive penetrate or shoot the 3's. I notice that when the ball stays in the guard's hands and they try to create on their own with TD standing around in the perimeter, it's usually not easy to get an easy basket.
Yes I know TP has become a star (as Gino) but TD is a force they should be using more, not as a second fiddle. We are talking about a Hall Of Famer who now more than not DEFERS to TP and GIno most of the time? I don't get it.
BECAUSE Duncan would have taken Dalembert one on one and go to the rack with his post moves.
Did you not watch the game? All the threes that Gino hit were wide-open. Why do you think that was? Because they forgot about him? Not likely.
Agreed, he was the only one who got things working for from all over the court.
Played pretty perfectas a leader, knew when to help his teammates, and then brought his O game tonight, by finishing strong a lot.
As soon as he came back in the game in the 4th qtr., the spurs stopped jacking up contested jumpers and used TD in the low-post to initiate. Then everything started to open up.
The issue I have is that Spurs only go to TD when they can't hit their jumpers and initiate the flow via their guards. They have it ass-backwards. They need to dump it into TD and let him create.
I know this is only regular season but the Spurs are becoming too much like the MAvs....living and dying by 3's. Mavs have to do this because they have no low-post dominant player but the Spurs have TD down in the paint? WHy waste his talent until its very tight and the game is on the line?
Hopefully this game got Manu back on track. He was clearly the reason we started the season so well.
yeah, I hope he rides off this too, in his shooting confidence with that splint. You could argue that the game up until the 4th quarter was looking like another episode of the New York Knicks game.. so yeah, he definitely helps get the W easier for us.
Iggie and them were probably expecting to grind it out, with the Spurs playing so poorly, then Manu hit back to back to back to back threes and it was over.
Anyone have the final 4 minutes. It didn't record the last 4 minutes and hubby is about to kill me![]()

I hear a b.j. in your future![]()
Personally I thought they played good defense.
There was good effort, the third quarter they just couldn't buy a basket.
This was one of their better efforts in the past couple weeks.
