For the record, I wasnt referring to Mars Volta as "obscure". I was referring to Viva la Penis' music selection as obscure in relation to the 1000 CDs of garage rock/indie rock he so covets all the while thinking his unique (ie obscure) taste in music somehow differentiates him from the "mainstream".

Actually, I have Frances the Mute. I liken it to a modern Pink Floyd in the sense that they are certainly different than other music out there, in my experience anyway.
But yeah, I like songs I can understand to a point. I like opera, and I dont understand a ing word those WOPs are saying, but its beautiful.
Volta is just a little too out there, but I see the inclination, just not my bag.
