Spurs looked confused.....they could not sustain a big lead.
Oh fer crying out loud, work it out - they were dog-tired throughout the series! They were drained from playing 7 against that athletic Hornets team and never recovered as they only ever got a 1-day rest on old legs. It was bloody obvious the whole time.

How's understanding the NBA going for you?

Spurs finish the season in the top four. I don't think all is lost. A few new faces, some re-tooling, and Spurs are right back in the hunt next year. It's what the Spurs do.

    Check your head, Don.

    Duncan+Parker+Ginobili=3 rings!

All we need to do is put some youth beside them.

You think Radman is a better player than TP or Manu?

Seriously dude, I hope it's the delirium of losing talking right now.
He's better than Manu. If we traded Parker for Vlad, we'd be left without a PG, so I would not advise it. But an average Laker player is, in general, better than any of our stars. I'm on record already for offering any of our players (outside of Duncan) for any of their players at the same position (except Mihn and Mbenga).

    Get off this fatigue excuse.

This is the ing playoffs. If you can't handle 7 game series then you don't ing belong in the playoffs and you don't deserve to win.

Don Q, aren't you a closet Lakers fan posing as a Spurs fan?
No, I'm a real Spurs fanatic, and hate the Lakers. Just stating the facts, like I predicted the Lakers winning tonight, the Lakers winning Game 4, and the Lakers winning the series. But I would love to have been proven wrong. But I was right.

Despite of Manu's great game 3 (30 pts 9/15FG) here are his other stats:

    Game 1: 10pts 3/13FG
    Game 2: 7pts 2/8FG
    Game 4: 7pts 2/8FG
    Game 5: 9pts 3/9FG

which is an average of 8,25 pts with 26,3% (10/38) while Manu had his best season (19,6pts 46%FG).

With a healthy Manu it would have been a totally different story. It was a great run, Lakers played good and Kobe was amazing.

Well damn, it wasn't our year (even year), next year is ours!

Congrats to the Lakers. The Spurs couldn't hold on to the lead.

But as badly as they played, I'm still proud of my Spurs. They gave it all out tonight. It just wasn't enough.

Well, if what the Spurs have to count on is a healthy Manu, then we won't win too many more les! Players over 30 don't tend to get over injuries any better as they age. I'd package him now for somebody like Trevor Ariza or Ben Gordon, while he still has some value. Begin the rebuilding process.

I'd like to keep Tony, but let's not pretend he's a great, great PG. He's very good, that's all. But it's obvious that we need bigger, stronger, younger, more athletic, better shooting players. In short, like what the Lakers have.

At least we've seen the last of Finley in a Spurs uniform. And Horry. And maybe Thomas, Stoudamire (what a pickup!) and Barry. Bowen will be gone soon enough. And then we can rebuild the team for another dynasty.

I disagree. The Lakers will embarrass the Celtics with their depth, athleticism, shooting, and the fact that they have a REAL clutch player in Kobe. And the Lakers just ate the Spurs lunch -- how much harder could Detroit be?
    I like you!

This will be a fact you will see! Nothing to be sore about! You have not won the big one and you more than likely won't. Great season though you should be proud!

The Lakers were the better team: they were far more consistent than the Spurs, from top to bottom. They did what they had to do, while the Spurs couldn't.

There are no excuses for their performance. The Spurs just didn't have what it took to win, and didn't even make it very interesting to boot. They rolled over at the worst time, being so close to another finals appearance.

Lakers fans on this forum combined with Sasha's unsportsmanslike play...I will be rooting for them to lose.

Those are the breaks...Spurs have been lucky to have been healthy for those 3 championships with Manu, seeing how risky he is already.

Timmy gave his all, but made mistakes. (FT's were huge) Story of the night.

All the Spurs tried to fight, but they just were gassed.

I think I'm going to be officially depressed for the next two days....

    Kinda like in 2006.

It's a game of mistakes. The team that makes the most, loses.

Why didn't they try to get the ball to Barry, who's got the best
    3-point numbers on the team?

Duncan putting up 3-pointers? What kind of insanity is that?
Guess it goes hand-in-hand with all his missed free throws.

    Mistakes, does it every time.
