Yet the publish date says 5-16. Why is it just now telling me to update?

    Anyone had issues with SP1?

Your computer may be set to Automatically check for updates Monthly; If the Update just popped up today, that means the last time it would've checked for updates would've been 5/14, two days before SP1 was released.

I haven't heard much bad news about SP1, and I've heard it definitely fixes some of Vista's many bugs and seemed to help with performance. The general rule of thumb is that you're usually going to want to do any OS upgrades that become available; if they don't happen to correlate with your current software, at least you know what the problem is.
