The San Antonio Spurs will try to snap a two-game losing streak tonight versus the Sacramento Kings. The Spurs finished their Rodeo Road Trip with losses against the Miami Heat and Memphis Grizzlies to finish the trip with a record of 4-4.
On the season, San Antonio is 24-38 and in 12th place in the Western Conference. They are two games behind the 10th seeded New Orleans Pelicans. If the Spurs can jump into the top ten in the West, they’d land a spot in the play-in tournament.
The Kings are currently in 13th place in the Western Conference with a record of 23-41. Sacramento has lost five of their last six games.
Lonnie Walker IV Heating Up
Lonnie Walker IV has played extremely well in his last six games. In those contests, he’s averaging 20.3 points in 28.0 minutes per game, while hitting 51.6% of his shots from the field. He has also knocked down 38.2% of his three-pointers in that stretch.
This is good timing for Walker because he becomes a restricted free agent this summer. Prior to this hot stretch, Walker hasn’t had a notably productive season. In 23.1 minutes, he’s averaging 11.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists, while hitting 40.5% of his shot from the field, 30.4% of his three-pointers and 79.1% of his free throws.
If Walker can play well until the end of the season, the chances that the Spurs give him a contract this summer will be much improved.
Dejounte Murray Fined
Dejounte Murray was fined $20,000 by the NBA for throwing a basketball at a referee. The incident occurred against the Grizzlies late in the fourth quarter. Murray was called for a technical foul and ejected from the game.
On the season, Murray is averaging 20.1 points, 9.4 assists and 8.3 rebounds.
