The San Antonio Spurs will try to get back on the winning track tonight when they host the Milwaukee Bucks at the Frost Bank Center. The Spurs enter the contest with a record of 20-24. After losing five of their last six games and eight of their last ten games, San Antonio is four games under .500 for the first time all season.
The Bucks are 26-19 on the season, which is impressive considering that Milwaukee started 2-8 in their first ten games. In their last 12 games, the Bucks have a record of 9-3.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is having another fantastic season. The 30-year-old is averaging a career-high 31.7 points per game along with 12.2 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.3 blocks. He’s hitting 60.8% from the field and has hit at least half his shots in every single game this season.
Victor Wembanyama Named to the All-Star Team
Victor Wembanyama is officially an All-Star. After missing out during his rookie season, Wembanyama will make his first showing at the All-Star game in February. As long as he stays healthy, this promises to be the first of many selections.
On the season, Wembanyama is averaging 24.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.9 blocks.
San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup
Even though Jeremy Sochan has returned from a back injury, it appears as if Stephon Castle may have earned a permanent spot in the starting lineup. If that is indeed the case, the starting five tonight against the Bucks will be Chris Paul at point guard, Castle at shooting guard, Devin Vassell at small forward, Harrison Barnes at power forward and Victor Wembanyama at center.
Interim head coach Mitch Johnson would then use Sochan, Keldon Johnson, Julian Champagnie and Tre Jones as his key reserves off the bench.
Milwaukee Bucks Injury Update
The Bucks have some injuries to worry about. First of all, Bobby Portis is out tonight due to personal reasons. Damian Lillard is questionable with a groin injury. AJ Green, Milwaukee’s bench sniper, is also questionable to play.
Antetokounmpo was previously listed as probable but he’s now clear to play.
Betting Guide: Spurs vs. Bucks
The Bucks are favored by 1.5 points and the over/under is 235 points. With Lillard listed as questionable, the smart money is on the Spurs. If Milwaukee’s point guard misses the game or is limited, San Antonio would have a golden opportunity to notch a much-needed win.
