Preview: San Antonio Spurs at Orlando Magic – Game #50

The San Antonio Spurs will try to get back on the winning track on Saturday when they travel to Orlando to face the Magic. The Spurs enter the game with a record of 22-27 after losing last night to the lowly Charlotte Hornets.

At 25-28, the Magic are the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. They’ve dealt with a lot of injuries this season but they’re in a relatively good position to make a push as the playoffs approach. Orlando is currently four games behind the sixth seeded Indiana Pacers.

In the loss to the Hornets, rookie Stephon Castle stole the show for the Spurs. He posted a career-high 33 points while hitting 10-of-15 shots from the floor, 3-of-5 three-pointers and 10-of-11 from the free throw line.

De’Aaron Fox hit a three-pointer to beat the Hornets — but, unfortunately, the shot came just after the buzzer expired. Playing his second game for the Spurs, Fox finished with 22 points, six assists, four steals and zero turnovers.

San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup

Stephon Castle’s outstanding performance against the Magic came from off the bench. Expect interim head coach Mitch Johnson to keep Castle in a reserve role against the Magic.

The five starters tonight will likely be De’Aaron Fox and Chris Paul at guard, Devin Vassell and Harrison Barnes at forward, and Victor Wembanyama at center.

Off the bench, the coaching staff has been using four players: Julian Champagnie, Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan and Castle. Expect those four to log the bench minutes against the Magic.

Rodeo Road Trip Continues

Tonight’s contest will be the fourth game of the 2025 Rodeo Road Trip. The Spurs are 1-2 on the trip thus far. After the game against the Magic, the Spurs have two more road games before the All-Star break: Monday against the Washington Wizards and Wednesday against the Boston Celtics.

Once play resumes after the break, the Spurs will play a pair of games in Austin before playing four more road games. San Antonio doesn’t play in the Frost Bank Center again until Mar. 2.

Betting Guide: Spurs at Magic

The Magic are favored by three points and the over/under is 217 points. The smart money is on the under. The Spurs are on the second night of a back-to-back and the Magic have struggled to put points on the board lately. In their last five games, Orlando has scored less than 100 points in four of the games.
