Preview: San Antonio Spurs at Golden State Warriors – Game #80

The San Antonio Spurs will attempt to snap a three-game losing streak tonight when they travel to take on the Golden State Warriors. The Spurs enter with a record of 32-47, while the Warriors have the opposite record of 47-32.

Both the Spurs and the Warriors will be playing on the second night of a back-to-back. Yesterday, San Antonio hung on tough against the Los Angeles Clippers but ended up losing by a final score of 122-117. The Spurs were led by Harrison Barnes, who poured in 24 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the floor, 6-for-8 shooting on three-pointers and 2-for-2 shooting at the free throw line. Barnes also had five rebounds and three steals.

After tonight’s game, the Spurs finish off their season with a game in Phoenix against the Suns and a home game versus the Toronto Raptors.

Yesterday, the Warriors demolished the Suns by a final count of 133-95. Steph Curry led the way for Golden State with 25 points, nine assists and six rebounds. The Warriors have won five of their last six games. Over their last 28 games, the red hot Warriors are 22-6.

Back on March 30th, Golden State annihilated San Antonio, 148-106. That game took place at the Frost Bank Center and the Spurs were led by Keldon Johnson’s 19 points off the bench.

San Antonio Spurs Injury Update

The injury news is the same for the Silver and Black. In addition to Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox being out for the season, the Spurs will also be without Jeremy Sochan. The 21-year-old is dealing with back spasms. San Antonio hasn’t indicated whether he is expected to play again this season.

With the Austin Spurs season over in the G League, the Spurs will have Harrison Ingram and David Duke Jr. available.

Golden State Warriors Injury Update

The Warriors will be without rookie center Quinten Post tonight. Against the Spurs in Golden State’s blowout win, Post had seven points and two rebounds in 18 minutes.

Gary Payton II is listed as questionable for tonight’s game. He didn’t play in the previous contest between these two teams.

Betting Guide: Spurs at Warriors

The Warriors are favored by 17.5 points and the over/under is 233 points. Why is Golden State such a massive favorite? The Warriors really, really need to win this game. The Warriors, Clippers, Denver Nuggets and Memphis Grizzlies are all 47-32. The Los Angeles Lakers are 48-31, while the Minnesota Timberwolves are 46-33. A loss by Golden State could drop them into the play-in tournament — so they’ll undoubtedly go all out in an effort to defeat San Antonio.

Even though both teams are on the second night of a back-to-back, the smart money is on the over. The Warriors will be fully energized to get the win and the Spurs should thrive in their spoiler role.
