The San Antonio Spurs will look to snap a two-game losing streak tonight as they travel to face the Washington Wizards. After back-to-back one-point losses to the Charlotte Hornets and Orlando Magic, the Spurs’ record now stands at 22-28.
The Wizards, with a record of 9-43, have the worst record in the NBA. The New Orleans Pelicans, with a 12-40 record, are the second-worst team in the league. Washington is currently on a five-game homestand but has lost the first two games at home.
Interestingly, the Spurs have played three consecutive one-point games. Before their losses to the Hornets and Magic, the Spurs secured a one-point win over the Atlanta Hawks. That remains San Antonio’s only victory on the 2025 Rodeo Road Trip, which will continue tonight with their fifth game of the trip.
Spurs Sign Bismack Biyombo
After trading De’Aaron Fox, the Spurs had an open roster spot. To add depth at center, they signed 32-year-old Bismack Biyombo to a ten-day contract. While Biyombo has not played in the NBA this season, he’s known for his strong defense, shot-blocking ability, and scoring around the rim with his athleticism.
With Charles Bassey sidelined due to a sprained MCL, Biyombo could immediately join the team’s rotation, though it’s more likely he’ll serve as depth at the center position. Bassey’s injury, which isn’t considered to be serious, could keep him out until after the All-Star break.
San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup
Interim head coach Mitch Johnson is expected to start De’Aaron Fox, Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes, and Victor Wembanyama. Eventually, Stephon Castle will likely become a regular starter for the Spurs, but for now, Chris Paul is expected to remain in the starting lineup.
Off the bench, expect to see Julian Champagnie, Jeremy Sochan, Keldon Johnson and Castle.
Washington Wizards Injury Update
While the Spurs are only dealing with Bassey’s injury, the Wizards have multiple key players unavailable. Khris Middleton and Marcus Smart, both of whom Washington acquired at the trade deadline, will miss tonight’s game against the Spurs. Additionally, Alex Sarr, the second overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, is also sidelined.
Betting Guide: Spurs vs. Wizards
The Spurs are favored by 11.5 points, with an over/under set at 236 points. Despite their recent close games, the Spurs should be motivated to secure a solid victory. With that in mind, the smart bet is on San Antonio to win by 12 or more points.
