San Antonio Spurs at New Orleans Pelicans Odds and Predictions

The Spurs are off to an amazing start for the 2020-21 season. The team pulled of an incredible 119-115 win against the Toronto Raptors yesterday. If you missed it, check out our recap and grades. Today at 7:00 ET, the Spurs will face off against the New Orleans Pelicans. Let’s go over some predictions for the game along with the starting lineups and odds. We’ll also make sure you know how you can watch the Spurs at Pelicans.

Spurs at Pelicans Predictions

The Spurs (2-0) will face off against the Pelicans (1-1) at Smoothie King Center. Heading into the match, the Spurs are so far undefeated, while the Pelicans are ranked 8th in the West along with four other teams. They have just come back home after losing to Miami.

Last year, the Spurs beat the Pelicans twice. Nonetheless, the odds favor the Pelicans this year. While Zion Williamson had a rough go in 2019-20 due in part to a knee injury, he is in great form so far this season. In fact, during the game against the Raptors, he came close to LeBron James’ 2003 Christmas Day points record. To contend with him, LaMarcus Aldridge and Rudy Gay are going to need to bring their best game defensively. The Pelicans are stronger defensively than the Spurs, however, which is one of the reasons the Pels are expected to win.

It will also be interesting to see if Trey Lyles gets any minutes. He didn’t play at all during the season’s first game, but we got to see some decent defense as well as a three-pointer from him in the last quarter of the game against the Raptors.

Starting Lineups

The starting lineup for the Spurs is: Aldridge, Murray, DeRozan, Walker and Johnson.

The starting lineup for the Pels is: Ingram, Williamson, Adams, Blesdoe and Ball.

As for injuries, Wenyen Gabriel is out with a knee injury, while Will Magnay is listed as questionable for the Pels. For the Spurs, Derrick White is listed as questionable with a toe injury.
