Christ is the son of the Christian god, sent to die on a cross for your sins.
Since you are atheist, anything that comes after that is a moot point. You celebrate the birth of baby Jesus and you shun people who don't, yet you are atheist and have a long long history here of railing against Christians and Christianity in general. Playing the "cultural celebration" card is a copout.
You can certainly celebrate you don't believe in, some go nuts on Halloween, however pretending other atheists who don't celebrate things they don't believe in somehow are defective is really backwards. Either you're not atheist or you haven't come out about it to your family. I cannot imagine telling a child "we'll celebrate Christmas but I don't believe any of it. By the way, Santa brought you some stuff"
