I lived in Cali at the time and the big thing was the beef between Dr. Dre and Eazy E so I can recall seeing those videos over and over again.
I don't know why, but I was thinking about this today. I remember my junior and senior year of high school which was 90-91, this was HUGE... I think really where most people first saw Vanilla Ice, and MC Hammer videos...
I also remember they had some rappers, I think ones name was Cool Chip and they were like kidnapped or something, because I remember them saying " We're locked up here in this NEW YORK CITY BASEMENT SUCKA'S"!
Anyone else remember this? What were some of your fav videos and did you ever call in...
Other big vids for me were Sir Mix Alot, Mi'c e, and I can't think of the chics name, but she was Everlast Girlfriend at the time and rapped a song called Vinnie the moocha...
I lived in Cali at the time and the big thing was the beef between Dr. Dre and Eazy E so I can recall seeing those videos over and over again.

My hooptie, rolling, tailpipe dragging.
Heat don't work and my girl keeps nagging.
69 Buick. Deuce keeps rollin'.
1 hubcap cause 3 got stolen.
Bumper shook loose. Chrome keeps scraping.
Mismatched tires and my whitewalls flaking.
Hit Mickey-D's... Maharaji starts to bug.
He ate a quarter-pounder... threw the pickles on my rug.
Running. Movin'. Tags expired.
Girlies try to diss and say my car looks tired.
Hit the breaks; out slips Skittles.
Tinted back window with a bubble in the middle.
Whose car is it? Posse won't say.
We all play it off when you look our way.
Rolling 4-deep, tires smoking up the block.
Gotta roll this bucket cause my Benz is in the shop.
My hooptie.
It's a 4-door nightmare; trunk lock's stuck.
Big dice on the mirror; grill like a truck.
Lifter's ticking. Accelerator's sticking.
Something on my left-front wheel keeps clicking.
Picked up the girlies; now we're 8-deep.
Car's barely runnin', but now we got heat.
Made a left turn as I watched in fright;
My ex-girlfriend shot out the headlight.
She was standing the road so I smashed her toes.
Mashed my pedal, boom, down she goes.
Long hair flying. Boy I ain't lyin'.
We flip the skeeze off, dumb girl starts crying.
Baby called the cops, so now I'm getting nervous.
Cops see a beeper and the suckers might serve us.
Hit a side street, and what did we find?
A young punk droppin' me a flip-off sign.
Put the deuce in reverse and started to curse.
Another sucker on the southside about to get hurt.
Homie got scared so I got on
Yeah my group got paid but my group's still strong.
Posse moved north, headed for the cd
Moving real fast so the cops don't see me.
Mismatched tires got my boys uptight.
Two Vogues on the left; Uniroyal on the right.
Hooptie runnin', bouncin' on leaded.
This is what I sport when you call me big-headed.
A pot-hole crusher; red-light rusher;
Musher of a brother when I'm plowin' over suckers in a Hooptie
It's a 3-ton monster; econobox stomper
Snatch yo' girlie. If you don't I'll romp her
Dinosaur rush, looking like Shaft.
Some get bold but some get smashed.
Cops say the car smokes but I don't listen.
It's a 6-9 deuce so the with the emissions
Rolling in Tacoma; I could get burned.
Better make a U-Turn.
Spotted this freak with immense posterior
Trying to roll smooth through the hilltop area
Brothers start letting off, kicking that racket
Thinking I'm a rock star selling them packets
I ain't with that so I smooth eject
Hit I-5 with the dope cassette
Playing that tough crew hardcore dope.
Damn! The tape deck broke!
Damn! What's next?
Brothers in Gore-Tex trying to find a spot so we can hunt for sex

Running that game with the homemade slang
Baby got ished, Bremelo gip
Keep laughing at the car and you might get clipped by a hooptie
Running out of gas, stuck in traffic.
Far left lane throwing up much static
Input, output, carburetor full of soot.
What 'cha want me to do Mix?
Push, freak push!
Sputter, sputter
Rollin' over gutters
Car's dipped low with hardcore brothers
Tank on E, pull in the ARCO
Cops on tip for Columbian cargo
We fit a stereotype. That's what they said.
Big long car, four big black heads.
Cops keep jocking, grabbing like gators.
'Bout stereotypes, I'm looking nothing like Noriega
Cops took my wallet; looked at my license.
His partner said "Damn, they all look like Tyson"
Yes, I'm legit so they gotta let me go

Song sucks, but great video
Another great video (this time song's great too)
Oh yeah! They also used to play "We're all in the same gang" all the time.
Wasn't it like $.99 to request a video?
How eloquent. In one short sentence, you've just described both the rise and the fall of MTV.
I used to love that channel growing up, it is where I would get my NWA fix and alot of other rap stuff you couldn't see on MTV outside of Yo MTV Raps or BET's Rap City...
Cuz I'm too short baby and I can't stop makin, i grab the microphone and I can't stop rappin.
SLC didn't have The Box until mid-late 90's. Awesome though, cause I didn't have cable growing up so my only music video fix was this network because it was broadcast.
