If Leonard gets his way, we'll be like the Heat and not like the Spurs. Heat = depend on one man to move around and look for a shooter to pass to. Or Spurs = pass, pass, pass until you find an open shot.

why can't we take advantage of both skill-sets?

E.G. playoffs, where teams close out harder and there are no open shots.

then we'd have the option of pass, pass, pass, head-fake on the close-out, attack the rim using superior ball-handling skills & finish.

nothing worse than a one-dimensional team that can be easily figured out in the playoffs.

    Complaining about more offensive firepower

Richards with the most intriguing 0-for-3 with two turnovers summer league game ever
iirc none of those shots were close

ChumpDumper, I've seen you talk about it but is there any precedence for a team putting a player they own the rights to on their D-League team without that player being under an NBA contract? Getting Richards to sign straight with the Toros would be great but not sure how feasible it is . . .

I'm not quite ready to give him the 15th spot on the roster but tonight was a step in that direction. He's probably the British Yi but his tools sure do jump off the screen.
    Here's what has to happen.

    1) Richards agrees to sign a D-League contract.

    2) Richards enters the D-League draft.

    3) The Toros work a trade to get the rights to Richards in case they aren't able to draft him.

    Shouldn't be too difficult.

    Thanks.

Considering the ultra scrub leagues Richards has been playing in, I doubt the D-League is even THAT much of a pay cut. He really should just come on over and enter the D-League draft.

Well he played with a couple of D-Leaguers in Switzerland -- a former Toro bench big man and a shooting guard who ended up starting in the D-League once he came back this season.

But yes, if they can talk him into it/call in the chit for all the medical care, it seems like the best option for him. They might even be super sneaky about it and have him start the season back in Europe and then come back and join the D-League when the Toros reach the top of the acquisition list sometime after Thanksgiving.

That one crossover by Kawhi was a thing of absolute beauty.
Holy . You aren't kidding. I had to go back and watch that play several times to absorb all the nuances of it.

NBA.COM has a highlight of the LD Williams dunk with commentary. The dunk was okay, but I'd be more impressed if he made more than one basket in the game.

The NBA.COM game recap has two rather nice crossovers by KL. I assume the one that was mentioned is the one in the fourth quarter, which really impressed me. He does a kind of step back combined with a crossover, goes forward, switches hands and lays it in off the glass for an and-1.

    Re: Richards on the Toros

Didn't Richards come out and say shortly after he was drafted that he refused to play in the D-League, and would only come to the US to join the NBA?

Richards said he would happily play even D league, just please please don't send him back to Europe. And RC said, hey kid, go to Europe.

You have said that you would rather play in the D-League than Europe next year. Why is that?

RR: Just because my goal in life and my dream is to be in the NBA. To be on a roster with a team. If a coach or an organization thinks I'm not ready and want to send me to the D-League, I wouldn't have an issue with it. Once I prove myself there, I'm going to be admitted to the NBA.

I think it was something along the lines of he really wanting to play in the US and would rather play in the d-league than play in Europe. Don't remember for sure though.
