The San Antonio Spurs will play their final game prior to the All-Star break tonight when they take on the Boston Celtics. This will be San Antonio’s sixth game on the 2025 Rodeo Road Trip. The Spurs are 2-3 on the trip so far and they’re record on the season is 23-28.
The Celtics, the defending NBA champions, have a record of 38-16, which is good for second place in the Eastern Conference. Boston trails the Cleveland Cavaliers (43-10) by five and a half games.
Winners of five of their last six games, the Celtics once again look like a serious contender. In fact, most prognosticators have Boston as the favorites to win the championship again this season.
After losing a pair of one-point games, the Spurs got back on the winning track by defeating the Washington Wizards on Monday night. In San Antonio’s 131-121 victory, Victor Wembanyama led the way with 31 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals in 38 minutes. De’Aaron Fox chipped in with 30 points, six assists and four rebounds, while shooting 15-for-18 from the free throw line.
The Spurs currently sit in the 12th seed in the Western Conference. They are three games behind the Phoenix Suns for the last spot in the play-in tournament.
San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup
The only injury the Spurs are dealing with right now is Charles Bassey’s sprained MCL. With his starters available to play, expect interim head coach Mitch Johnson to go with De’Aaron Fox at point guard, Chris Paul at shooting guard, Devin Vassell at small forward, Harrison Barnes at power forward and Victor Wembanyama at center.
Off the bench, the coaching staff will go with Keldon Johnson, Julian Champagnie, Jeremy Sochan and Stephon Castle. Sandro Mamuekalshvili was part of the regular rotation against the Wizards and could see playing time again tonight.
Boston Celtics Injury Update
While the Spurs are relatively healthy, the Celtics will be short-handed. Jrue Holiday is out with a shoulder injury. Additionally, Jaylen Brown is questionable with a knee injury.
Betting Guide: Spurs at Celtics
The Celtics are favored by 8.5 points and the over/under is 234 points. The smart money is on the over. San Antonio’s defense has been underwhelming as of late. On the other side of the court, the Spurs should be able to put up plenty of points on the board, especially since Wembanyama and Fox are playing so well together.
