Luka's team lost mainly because he played some of the worst defense ever seen in the finals for a player his size.
He was as useless as Trae would've been on that end.
That was my point. Not that Dillingham could ever get even close to Luka's impact.
Kyrie was actually a better defender than...
ATL - Risacher
WAS - Sarr (maybe a swap to ensure this happens)
HOU - Clingan (trade to MEM)
SAS - Castle
DET - Sheppard
CHA - Holland
POR - Williams
SAS - Buzelis (trade to Chicago)
MEM - (now HOU) Knecht
UTA - Topic
Yeah, it's recency bias. Everyone was extolling how great Maxey was a couple months ago. Dallas just can't cover their players, and honesty, talking about Boston's 'epic playoff run' is kind of dumb considering they had no opposition whatsoever with all the injured teams they faced. So destroying...
Luka didn't do much better on defense than Dillingham would.
These playoffs have shown us that size narrative for bad defenders doesn't really matter, they still get hunted.
Dillingham at least has a developed skillset.
Everyone else except Risacher and Clingan will be a bust if they don't...
I hope Wemby changes things. Wesley and Branham weren't bad picks considering that draft was not deep. The team had time to work on players at that point.
Things have changed. Dillingham will be able to score. He'll be ready to be on the court in some fashion from the start.
Tbh, I hope their recent failures have steered them away from theoretical players.
What happened to Spurs drafting players based on their basketball ability, not just physical talent?
I've been changing my mind daily, but it's the draft day and I want Dillingham at #8.
I wonder how many front offices will deviate from the usual BPA drafting strategy this year.
Our Spurs are indeed in an interesting situation having two top 8 picks. In what is projected to be a rather weak and flat draft, do you just go for BPA both at 4 or 8 or does fit play a bigger role than...
Honestly Salaun at 8 isn't the worst pick to make in this draft considering how flat (not terrible) it is. But there are potential safer picks that could provide immediate floor improvements to the current roster.
Wouldn't go jumping up and down with anger or joy at it but see the potential...
Anyone but Castle. Feel Sarr and Reed are both safe and high upside so worth trading up for. There's not a lot a talent in this draft so don't get too smart...
As a note, not a lot of Spurs second round picks are early in the round. They're mostly mediocre.
The two SRPs that the Charlotte pick will convert to may be, however, if they don't get their act together.
