God I'd hate that. Don't feel strongly enough about any prospect to convert two swings to one when it's extremely likely the Spurs will have at least one of Risacher, Castle, and Sheppard to choose from at 4.

For all the smoke and mirrors, the top of this draft is really simple. Atlanta drafts Clingan. Washington gets Sarr. Houston nabs Sheppard. And we select Risacher. Everyone gets the top choice on their draft board. Everyone is happy.

In my opinion, it's not that the hole at SF doesn't exist. It's simply that most people realize filling the PG hole first will pay way higher dividends. Risacher would certainly fill a big gap, provided of course his game actually translates to the NBA. A great PG would be more preferable but...

Vecenie on Castle's weaknesses WEAKNESSES: Castle is not overly explosive. He’s not deficient athletically and gets a lot out of his gifts on the court because of his strength, but he’s not someone who flies around. He can throw down and dunk, but typically must load up off two feet. He has some...

More from Vecenie: STRENGTHS: Castle has awesome measurements for an NBA wing at 6-5 1/2 without shoes and a 6-9 wingspan. His 8-6 standing reach will work well across the positional spectrum. He looked big for the college game and was also a strong athlete. He’s not elite in terms of...

Sarr doesn't have positional versatility and the difference between them is, if Sarr's theoretical offensive skills never become a reality, he can still be a good, versatile defensive anchor and play a low usage/high efficiency style, where he rim runs, plays out of the dunker spot and vertical...

Here's a short version of Vecenie's take: puts Castle as his #3 prospect and in Tier 3: High-Leverage Starters, behind Sarr and Sheppard and ahead of Clingan and Risacher in the tier. Highest tier he has anyone ranked in this draft: SUMMARY: Castle is polarizing this year because of his jumper....

I normally agree but I know several here have favorites that won't be there at 35. They're interested in Kolek, Carrington, Smith, Edey, Furphy, Scheierman, Dadiet, etc. Maybe the Spurs like one of these guys too. I'd rather trade seconds for future firsts myself.

Well, Spurs have more than 1 hole. I'm not saying "Risacher is #1 for Spurs". Spurs might even agree with you and have Risacher very low on their board. What I'm saying is for other franchises, Risacher being #1 for Spurs is what seems the most likely. BTW, Risacher is currently under...

Bro this really reads like all you had were two bullet points and then you added 3 and 4 because you thought two wasn’t enough. The Spurs have a huge hole at point guard and that’s pretty much what’s acknowledged universally, not SF. The Spurs have scouted everybody and there’s not much...

It is just that Clingan and Sarr are just way better fit for Hawks. Capela is struggling and they really need a good center.

For sure - in that scenario I can see them being open to trade but that seems really unlikely at this point.

My sincere hope is that the Spurs are already talking to DET about what they need for 5. CHA too, but I think their price at 6 will be super high if Castle is within grasp. I do believe this FO will select ZR at 4, so I don’t think there is a bluff for DET to call. If a trade up scenario...

I hope no other teams GM has leaks from Spurs about who they really like. In reality, Spurs might very well like Castle or Sheppard more than Risacher. It is just that Risacher is the most logical candidate to be on top of Spurs board. And I agree with you, Spurs shouldn't overpay to get #1 for...

If Sarr goes #1 to ATL, or another team via trade, I could see Washington being open to moving back. But if Sarr is there at #2, I agree.

Lots of thought exercises on what Atlanta should do. Doesn't seem like SA would want that at all. Unless, they really want a certain player, or only want one rookie this year for some reason --perhaps because they still need more time with Branham and Wesley? The horror.

I don’t buy that ATL is out on Sarr. Why exactly? Bc of the workout snub and bc WAS really really really wants Sarr? This makes no sense to me. Instead of playing games with SAS, ATL should instead be playing games with WAS in the hopes they cough up an asset to move up to 1 for Sarr.

That makes sense, but that would still be speculation vs a leak from SA I am guessing. With all the Sarr to WAS noise (meaning SA would only need ATL to pass on Risacher for him to fall to SA at 4), does anyone even with Risacher being a fit for SA think SA values him so much more than anyone else...

If the situation arises where SA can walk away with Castle+Reed or Castle+Risacher by trading 8 for 5, I would do something like Branham + 8 + CHA pick + 2 2nds or 8 + future lottery protected first probably. DET moves back 3 spots, gets maybe a young player they think is interesting and adds...

If I were another franchise GMs, I would clearly put Risacher at #1 on Spurs big board for various reasons: - Risacher is viewed as a top2 prospect along Sarr by a lot of draft analysts. - Spurs have a huge hole at the starting SF spot and Risacher would be a great fit. - Spurs have scouted...

Barnes would be aight, but the Spurs need to sign vets on short term deals who we can shop to contenders at the deadline and have enough cap room in 2025 to sign players.

IMO, the case for Sarr is very similar to the case for Castle. Both need a jump shot to reach their full potential, but they also have a high defensive floor with positional versatility. Not that Sarr will slip to #4, but that would be an interesting choice if it happened. In that case I'd probably...

I'd definitely do Risacher at 4 and secure Castle at 5. My big question is how much I'd push onto the table. I'd put the 35 out there, but probably not enough. I'd consider the CHA first, which is really two future (probably pretty good) SRPs.

Agree and based on TIMVP board etc..it doesn’t sound like SA values any one player SO much that they’d trade up to get someone.
