View Full Version : George Hill is a waste of time

I'm sure George Hill is a nice person, but he just isn't an NBA player. The Spurs had an opportunity to draft someone that could play, but they screwed up. And Popovich got promoted to President. :rolleyes

Good bump. I think I will continue to trust the Spurs FO whose JOB it is to assess and evaluate basketball players over some internet message board retard (albeit one with a very high post count). I wonder if someone could cross reference the posters who hated George Hill with the ones who whined about letting James Gist go.

I'll admit I doubted Hill's ability to be a contributing NBA player. He has proven me wrong. I'm very grateful for that. :tu

Confession time:
A few of weeks ago, on one of those "Trade Tony" threads, I said that George Hill was not ready to take over this team. While I still believe that trading Tony is a bad idea, George made me believe that he could take over this team sooner than I thought.
i think the one thing i get from such bumps as this is how consistently stupid some people are (tlong II comes to mind for some reason)

To be fair, at the start of last season and prior to George Hill looked fucking AWFUL. Its one thing to look raw but George Hill looked like he wasn't NBA talent at all. As his defense got better he started to look like a long term project and then he showed some life in games where Parker was out.
That being said, if I told you last year that George Hill would lead the Spurs in scoring in a huge game four you would have laughed your ass off at me. No one saw his improvement coming this fast.
I'm not sure what they saw when they drafted him but they definitely saw it there and they were right. But George Hill could have easily have been Marcus Williams part two.
i don't think it is that there is always the chance that a player can be a bust as much as it is the pure hyperbole and patronizing tone of some of the posters that comes off as so damn funny.

I was totally against drafting Hill last year...he has turned into my 2nd favorite player on the team. He has totally proven me wrong and I'm very glad for it.

That's part of the fun of being a fan in the NBA... you never really know who's going to be a bust or a breakout star for your team... luckily for us, George Hill is for real.
