end of 3rd Q

78 - 64

It's only the third quarter?

I thought it was the end of the fourth.

Still time for a comeback. :)

It could happen.

The 2004 Argentinian team would beat that USA team.

Gregg Poppovich would trade Manu, both his nuts, and your entire family for Melo...

Welcome to reality.

I seriously doubt that. If you wanna trade Manu trade him to the Lakers. I'd love to see the look on your face with Manu and Kobe coming down the court at the same time.

So not only do you suck at Basketball rules you also suck at math.

You should keep crying. It suits you girls well.

I swear the Argentinian bitches who get pissed off like you seriously need to add some wit. The best you guys have is "fatboy" and "you suck dicks". Its so damn lame.

Are you all retarded or do you just do your best to act that way?

Did I say otherwise? Are you have trouble reading also?

Who said anything about being classy? I said your insults were stupid, uncreative and pedestrian. I know it must be hard to concentrate with your vagina bleeding all over the place but please try.

Everyone damn well knows Oberto is playing dirty as fucking hell so I don't care if Melo decides to slap his ugly ass face.

For someone who was just asking about colleges you sure as hell lack reading comprehension.

Its really hard to think you know shit about basketball.

You're so clueless. Seriously.

The mob mentality in this thread is pretty sickening if you ask me...

Note, Manny is not the Argentine governent...he cannot be overthrown.

Why do you think people come at Manny? It is not a mob mentality, it is people getting annoyed at all the lame, unoriginal comments. Look at all of these comments. All he does is talk shit and be a smart ass. As I said before, it gets annoying. Grow up and talk basketball.

No 3 months isn't enough time considering professional training stuff, etc. Manu was playing less than 40 days averaging over 20 points in the Olympics, but giving him another 3 month vacation won't help his foot at all?

Well lets see......

He was obviously not healthy even after averaging 23 ppg during these games because he just got re-injured...

Your argument really doesn't make sense, the Spurs still have training camp, and preseason before the regular season starts...

It's affecting the Spurs either way....

How did they look weak? They were able to coast this game. Given, it was not against a fully healthy Argentina squad, but they would have won anyways.

Well, lets see: the refs helped the US, the US were up by only 13 when we stopped trying, Manu couldnt play yet it wasnt a blowout, everytime anyone in the US team tried to do a flashy play they looked like fools getting blocked or making to's, etc, etc, etc...

As much as I'm a fan of Manu, the U.S. team is just a more talented team.

It would take the Argentinian team a lot of good team work, red hot shooting and a disorganized U.S. team to win. That's what they did last time, unfortunately, with an injured Manu, luck wasn't on their side this time.

Hats of to the Argentinians for keep it relatively close even without Manu.

NBA fans pretty much don't even want the NBA players playing in the Olympics...and after the players win gold they will likely lose the desire to keep playing basketball year round.

You see, in my country, playing in the Olympics for basketball players isn't a doorway to being declared a National Hero and becoming wealthy from endorsements...in my country, playing on the Olympic basketball team is a thankless job, that pays no money, garners no respect, no additional fame, and doesn't accomplish anything other than putting a gold medal on your chest.

In my country, playing for the National Basketball team doesn't even get many Americans to root for you...proof in this thread.

1. not true

2. I know what is going on in your country. You've got fake imagination about being a patriot, being proud etc.

Now can you honestly tell me the same is true for Manu and the guys on Team Argentina? Of if they were Poland?

No prestige, no respect, and damn sure no money...is that the way it works in Poland and Argentina with their Olympic Basketball players?

Tell me again who is doing this more for material(and otherwise) gain? Truely, all the NBA players are getting out of this is a gold medal...and literally nothing else. Not even good will from their countrymen...

The olympics are not important because of the money.
Prestige and history - yes.

All in all Olympics are the most global sports competition through the ages.

Stupid. Team USA is sacrificing more on a whole than Argentina. An injury could cost anyone on Team USA tens of millions of dollars. Half of Argentina's team plays in trash leagues and don't have much on the line if something happens.

And endorsements? Which is the team that has had a giant Visa logo on their chest?

Oh and saying Team USA is about money when Argentina was just saved by Carlos Delfino ... a guy who just signed in Nowhere, Russia solely for the money. Not to mention Scola, who complained about money for half a decade before coming to the NBA.

Argentina doesn't have innocence any longer. They are as Americanized as the Americans.

Wrong. Someone like Paolo Quinteros or Porta got injured during the Olympics, and they would have problems feeding their families, and not in the Latrell Sprewell sense.

Kobe could retire from basketball right now and would still be a millonaire weel into his sixties.

Argentina has VISA and their chest because they need that money to run the Argentinian Basketball Confederation. Team USA is an offshot of the NBA profits, they don't need any endorsments to function.

Most of you don't have any idea of the kind of conditions that most of the Argentinian players had to endure early in their careers to be able to progress. Some might say "yeah, but Melo is from tha hood". Let me tell you being in a "hood" in the US is paradise compared to the problems some of the Argentinian players had to face when they were 11 to 20 years old.

Yeah I can.

All the guys on team USA are good guys and winners.

My favorites, and this is just me talking, is Dwayne Wade and Tayshaun Prince.

Good good guys, hard workers, and damn good players.

I agree overall with the good guys part, except for Carmelo Anthony. This guy has no place in that team and it's a shame that such an asshole has a gold medal hanging from his chest.

http://i37.tinypic.com/vcscgy.gif

Go fuck yourself wannabe thug!

Its so fucking stupid to hear about Argentina's heart and courage and all that bullshit over and over and over again. How much heart has Delfino shown in his career? Oberto is fucking notorious for mailing it in half the season here for the Spurs. Nochioni became a chucker in his last season with the Bulls. Manu has a ton of heart and there's no denying that.

But don't act like the US players don't have heart, desire and care about winning just as much as the Argentinian players. Just because they're more talanted doesn't mean they lack heart or chemistry.

Lol. Angry much, Iraqi Information Minister?

Now can you honestly tell me the same is true for Manu and the guys on Team Argentina? Of if they were Poland?

u never see a riot break out on behalf of US fans when we lose. but yet it happens almost reguarly in other countries because thats what they live to see and love. years of dedication for this one moment for many international athletes. US athletes have other endeavors that they live for. an olympic gold medal is just another accomplishment. for the argentinians, thats all there is.

Anyway, congrats to the US, you won fair and square, there were some questionable calls, but when the difference is 20 points, there are no excuses, you were more talented. This time, you actually played like a team and were good winners (except for Melo, complete asshole).

I'm so fucking proud of this Argentina team. With Manu down, they man up and make it a game against the USA and then go and beat the shit out of Lithuania. This is a suitable ending for this generation. Every tournament they have played since 2001, they have finished in one of the top 4 spots. Against Lithuania it was all there, ball movement, teamwork, defense...

What best represented their spirit was that moment when Nocioni, limping on one leg, fought for a rebound over Javtokas, then ran after the loose ball, dived on his head to the floor, and then Delfino dived too. One can only be thankful for those guys who could stay home and enjoy their millions and instead they gave it all for a medal.

there were some questionable calls,

Like when Tim Duncan fouled out in 19 minutes in Athens. Maybe TimVP can go back and dredge up the replies from many Argentina fans when someone brought that up.

I guess it's Argentina's turn to say "Imagine how good a game we might have had if both teams had had all their players."

Like when Tim Duncan fouled out in 19 minutes in Athens. Maybe TimVP can go back and dredge up the replies from many Argentina fans when someone brought that up.

I guess it's Argentina's turn to say "Imagine how good a game we might have had if both teams had had all their players."

Tim wasn't getting called for fouls in that one game, it was on a consistent basis in which Tim was getting called for fouls like crazy, it must have been something he was doing for a variety of refs to call fouls on him for every single game.

Yes, what he was doing was was being the best player in the world at the time.

I'm sure you are aware of the differences in FIBA rules. It's not just court length, time, etc. They look at the game from a different perspective. Duncan couldn't seem to make that adjustment. It's like everybody says here: Playing good internationally doesn't translate to being good in the NBA and vice versa.

There maybe an aspect or two that some people have a hard time adjusting to and since the olympics are too short, maybe TD couldn't have adjusted. Also, TD not playing wasn't the reason Team USA sucked that year.

He was hand checking them when they (players) were on a drive (move).
Tim likes to have slight contact with opponent in that kind of situations.
It was interpreted as foul, Tim did not adjusted much during the tournament. Well he was more passive on D on some occasions.

That is it
