Her being attractive (and yes, she most definitely is) works against Repubs in terms of getting the woman vote IMO. We all know about how women are easily jealous of hot chics.

I also think many women would have a tough time accepting that someone like Palin with a very pedestrian resume to date could come out of nowhere and become VP whereas a trailblazer like Hillary is left out in the cold, so to speak.

I really don't think Palin helps with the Hillary voters. Many will rightly or wrongly see this pick as patronizing towards them.

None of this even mentions that when it comes to actual issues that affect women, Palin is about as socially conservative and right-wing as you can get (abortion, guns, etc).

It's pretty shocking that in a tight race McCain would make such a huge risk. And it's pretty sad that the much more qualified candidate, Mitt Romney, was passed over likely because he's a Mormon. Shameful placating by McCain, but that's the McCain he's becoming since 2000. Romney had some serious economic chops, which is the argument McCain needed to really make to win this election IMO.
