Do they make delivery people pay for their own gas?

Honestly, I dont know. I always thought the $2.50 is what covers it. Im just throwing blindly but I think the way it works is they pay for their own gas initially and once their paycheck comes the company adds on to their pay according to how many deliveries where made.

I don't know about all places, but usually the driver pays for his own gas unless it's a company car. The driver probably gets $1.00 of that $2.50 for gas. The rest of the delivery fee is to offset the cost of paying for the 10-20 minute round trip, drivers wages.

Tip a pizza driver at least $2.00. or at least 10%, which ever is larger. Add or subtract depending on the service, but remember. The driver is not the one who cooks it.

I tip a standard $5.00 plus change on normal orders. However, I drove for Dominos as a second job between good jobs. I am one that know the value of working for tips, and deliver drivers take the job for the tips. Not the minimum wage. Tip less than $2.00 and you will be classed as a loser.

I used to be one too and the answer is of course you tip the pizza guy. This is like asking, "Should I tip my waiter?" It's not like it's an open debate; there is a clear societal contract that pizza guys get tipped. You just do it, hot/cold, long wait/short wait, good pizza/bad pizza; that motherfucker needs to be tipped and if you don't do it, you're a big time asshole who's not just spitting in the face of that particular pizza guy, but rather the face of the entire service industry and the faces of tipping customers everywhere.

I don't understand this attitude at restaurants either. Tips should always be independent of the quality of the food. You're not tipping the chef.

Barring any catastrophic delivery fuck ups I'll tip a flat $3. And I do mean catastrophic. The only time I ever stiffed a delivery guy was when they took an hour and a half to get there and parked halfway on the front lawn.

I thought that in most restaurant the waiters shared their tips with the cook(s)? If that's true then you are in fact also tipping the chef.

But you are. Did you know at Pizza Hut and major pizza places they have to document their tips and a certain percentage is taken out to share amongst the employee's?

99% of them just don't even report their tips. I didn't and they knew I was lying about it. But it's my fucking car, my gas and I didn't give a shit.

Also at restaurants they do the same thing with waiters. It's just about reporting what tips you got or keeping it to yourself.

One time, me and a buddy were pretty high at a hotel and ordered some Dominos. The bill was $19.80 or so. I told him, I'd pay for the pizza if he would hand the guy a twenty and say, "keep the change".
I hid behind the door while my friend tried to execute this. He started laughing uncontrollable which made me start laughing as well. From behind the door. He couldn't get a word out. Just handed him the money and took the pizza in the middle of his fit.
I'm sure the pizza guy had seen it all before but later we felt bad and considered ordering another pizza and request the same driver. But then thought that would sound weird.

i always tip for delivery... but theres a dominos within 2 minutes driving distance from my place, and a lot of times it just makes sense to order carryout. dodge the delivery fee and tip.

that being said, i dont :cry feel sorry :cry for delivery boys... pizza delivery guys make REALLY good money (considering the line of work). i have friends who worked for dominos that would routinely make more than $100 a night on fridays and such

but again, i always tip when i get it delivered, usually somewhere betwen $3 and 5. my first job was in the food industry and i recognize that tips can go a long way

yep i get the same deal... i usually dont care for a lot of toppings anyway. pepperoni/bacon is nice, pepperoni/garlic... sometimes i go for the bbq sauce instead of red sauce and go with chicken/onion and thats pretty good too

when people order specials with 3+ toppings i dont even know what do put on it

Go to a real pizza place. Most don't deliver. Spend the extra money on quality, not convenience. Average cost of a large shit pizza from Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Papa Johns is probably like $15-17 bucks. $10-12 for the pizza, $2 bucks for delivery charge (which goes to the company to help pay for gas reimbursement), $2-3 bucks for tip, $1-2 for tax.

A real pizza from a real pizza place is likely about $15-20.

Some even have valuable eat-in specials including salad and or drinks.

One local pizzeria offers XL 2-topping, family salad, 4 drinks for $25 bucks. Large for only $20.

Get out. Eat real food.

Sometimes I just want something quick I can take home and eat while watching the Spurs, the Wednesday ESPN game, or the Thursday TNT one. And Dominos and Papa Johns both offer $7.99 larges, that's pretty hard to beat. I'll go to a nice place like Dough, Big Lou's, or BJs if I want something really high quality, but pizza is pretty hard to fuck up (except for Little Ceasars, how the fuck does that place stay in business?)

I get that. Maybe my situation isn't everyone's.

But I grew up on medium four-cheese/sausage for $5.90 from the ma and pa pizzeria from around the corner, whose owner was Italian, not a college age stoner or middle aged fuck up.

When I visit the folks, that same pizza is $8.25 now.

Tax included. Out the door.

I don't get this either. A few years ago, we'd get LC every once in a while because you could walk in and get a $5 pizza. But I'd end up putting Frank's Red Hot on every bite. When they first came out, they used to have pretty decent sandwiches but I don't think any of them offer this anymore.

But with Dominos and Pizza Hut having easy online ordering and pretty good deals (2 regular pizzas for $5.99), I can't believe Little Caesars can stay in business.

allright...here's what you do...

get you one of those soft coolers that has a strap and kind of looks like a purse. Go to CiCi's and pay for the buffet. Load up your cooler with as much pizza as you can stuff into it. Then take it home and freeze it. You can actually have an extra cooler in your car so you can take out the full one and swap. You should easily be able to get enough pizza for a week and a half. Plus you can get all different kinds of excellent pizza and the dessert pizza as well. You should go with a group though to help hide what you're up to.
