My wife’s due date isn’t until the 13th but the last couple of times that we have gone to her appointment the doctor flipped because her blood pressure was high and so he sent us next door to the hospital. Well once we get there her blood pressure doesn’t seem to be so bad and after laying down for a while it goes down. I think the nurse at the doctor’s office doesn’t know how to read it because after we go to the hospital it’s not that bad. Of course we spend freakin 6 hours there waiting on results each time.
It’s killing me. We go again today and I swear I’ll punch him if he says “Today might be the day” again :ihit. Yes I am anxious. I want to see what she looks like and if she has one facial feature in particular of mine (which I hope she doesn’t). Oh well we go in at 11.
On a side note, last time we went we were in a room that held two patients and the woman next to us was a pain in the ass. On that day my wife hadn’t eaten since the afternoon before and was starving and when they reeled in that other lady we had already been there for a few hours. She comes in and as soon as the nurse asks how she is doing she starts bitching about how hungry she is. They asked her when she ate last and she said she had a tea at 2. The nurse said ok but when did you EAT? Then she said oh breakfast. Well after that the nurse had to check her by sticking her fingers in the cootch and I swear the lady made it sound like it was the worst feeling in the world. My wife says yes it’s uncomfortable but it’s only two fingers. Then we started to laugh because the stupid lady was saying “No stop! It hurts! Please stop!” My wife said her husband must be smaller than her pinkie.
After all that the nurse sent her home and said she seemed fine and nothing was out of the norm.

I have 3 kids, all I can say is that the second pregnancy was MUCH less stressful than the first. Around the time of the first one I was ready to just try heroin in order to calm down.:lol

It's tough, I know all you want to do is see that little sucker come out and make sure everything is operational and functioning, waiting for the actual birth is just nerve racking.

I had to jump the nurse when my son was born. She just handled the baby with her fingers like he was a twinkie.

"dammit lady hold him high and tight....up above that flabby chest of yours. He just got here and I can't have you fumbling him in the first quarter.....FUCK!!!!"

That's what I'm afraid of. I am having a girl and I already think that everything is going to hurt her. Then those nurses are all numb to everything and have done it so much that they just fling the babies around like nothing OK i need to stop I am hyperventilating

It could be maybe your wife gets a little anxious when she goes to the doctor's office and the blood pressure reading reads high, but when she goes to the hospital she is more relaxed. Who knows? The good thing is that she is okay.

I have enjoyed the past month with my newborn. He is something else. Its a lot of work, but fun at the same time. I hope everything turns out good for you and your wife. Keep us updated.

she is going to come out looking like an alien but they manage to transform in a matter of seconds. Her head is going to be cone shaped and she will be a light purple color. Its the greatest to be there when your kid is born. Also make sure to cut that cord like a man damn it, don't be scared !

that went through my mind for a split second but I got over it and snipped it. Then they took my son to weigh him and I walked over to him and he was laying there calm then he sneezed and scared himself. He jumped so high it was pretty funny. He is only 4 but I tell him that story all the time.

Any of you men out there have sympathy pains (at least I think that's what it's called) when your wife was pregnant?

On my wife's last pregnancy I started to get actual morning sickness. I would be on my way to work and have to pull over to throw up! I had no idea what was happening, at first I thought I had a bug of some kind that was making me sick, but no fever or anything else to go along with it.

It lasted for about 2 months and then gone......very strange.

Mine are 11 and 14, both delivered by C-section. I never had problems with high BP, but I did have gestational diabetes with both.

And about the lady bitching b/c she was hungry....I went into labor early on the morning of my last dr appointment, so when I went in, he told me to go home and wait until the contractions were closing before going to the hospital and he told me not to eat anything. So I go to my sisters on the way home and she had just ordered a bunch of Chinese food and I got to sit there and watch everyone eat.

Then when we finally went to the hospital and got all set up in the room. My sisters and their hubbies come in to see me (I had a private room that had a sitting area in one half of the room) they brought in freaking Taco Cabana and ate it in the room while I crunched on ice chips.

I hadn't eaten since 7 pm on Wednesday and the baby was born at 9:35 am Friday. I was STARVING!!!

Seriously. I went into labor with my first at like 11:00am and hadn't eaten anything at that point ... then was too excited/nervous the rest of the day to eat anything until it was time to go to the hospital, then I get there and the doctor hooks me up with an epidural and breaks my water about 8:00pm, and then I'm in horrible agony until my daughter decided to make her appearance at 5:06 am the next day. And I was starving! A very dear friend of mine brought me the biggest, nastiest cheeseburger she could find at 5:00 in the morning. :lol

Mine are 13 (on the 16th) and 15.5

Went into labor with son #1 around 5 a.m. and had him around 12:30 p.m. He would have come earlier, but he turned at the last minute.

Went into labor with son #2 at 7 a.m and had him by 10:30 a.m.

And thus ended my maternal urge to ever have another child :lol

I had my first two naturally and had an epidural with the third... this may sound crazy, but I hated the epidural. The pain in my back from that needle was worse than any of the contractions. And I felt weak and sick and just "off" for days after. Natural is the way to go, IMHO.

I've been pregnant 5 times, had 4 babies in 5 yrs; have 3 living children ages 11, 12, and 14. Between all those pregnancies, I had every possible complication, endured months of bedrest, premature births, surgeries, etc. I've experienced the best and the absolute worst. So if you want to know how to cope with it all---just roll with it is all I can advise! :)

I don't have kids, nor do I particularly want to, but there's something very strange to me about how precisely everything is planned these days. Everyone I know that's had a child in the last five(ish) years has known the sex, picked a name, scheduled the induction -- I guess I can see how it would make sense in terms of preparation, but it seems weird to make an appointment to have a baby.

My oldest was born on her due date...naturally. It was the nurse's fault...it was late evening, we were filling out paperwork, she asked me when the due date was and I told her. She said "no one is born on their due date...I'll put tomorrow as the date of birth". I told her "don't do that...you've just guaranteed she'll be born tonight" (It was about 10 PM at this point)

I don't have any kids but do plan on having them but I was 4 days late and my mom was in labor oh roughly all 4 of those days.....they almost had the nurse on top of her getting ready to push me out but then there I was. My brother on the other hand......was born in the back of a Dr.Pepper truck. My dad wasn't home and my mom went into labor and decided to drive herself to the hospital. We were living in Kirby at the time so none of my family was close. Well the car decided that it didn't want to keep going anymore and just died on the road.....a Dr.Pepper truck was driving by and stopped to help her and then my brother popped out. Kinda funny actually....but we are only 15mths apart. It's kinda cool to have a sibling that close in age...it was fun growing up. Billy on the other hand was a pain in the ass from the start and is an only child.....lol. I hope to have 4 boys but I will settle for 2.....hopefully boys....lol.

my ex-wife had to be induced with pitocin. the specialist we were seeing told us our daughter was out of room (my ex-wife is small)two weeks before the due date. it was a harrowing 17 hour ordeal. we got up to the max amount and little happened. As soon as they brought the dosage down she went into labor, which lasted 7 of those hours. She took no pain medication.

That's the problem with pitocin, it's great for contractions, but doesn't necessarily help dilation. As far as scheduled birthing, scheduled c-section is the way to go :tu

I have a 7 month old daughter and I gotta tell ya, these are the absolute best days of my life. Each new day is better than the last. I could have the worst day or be in the worst mood and just one look/smile from my daughter and everything is right. One of the best pieces of advice I've been given...TAKE PICTURES....and when you think you've taken enough..TAKE MORE. You will never get these days/times with your baby back again so do as much as you can do to remember them. Oh and buy a video camera.
