brooks has had a great game but they need to get rafer in. i like his ability to control the ball and slow things down here. brooks still worries me about turnovers and we don't need that late in the game. even though alston sucks he does a nice job of taking care of the ball.

Artest and the Rockets looked good. Their depth is going to give teams fits. TMac was nothing more than a cheerleader down the stretch and they owned the Mavs anyway. If the Rockets are healthy going into the playoffs and they stay healthy throughout they will be your '08-'09 NBA Champions.

even though i did cuss tmac out during this game, he is injured and he alone can win us 55 games so i understand why coach was giving him rest.
It was also smart on adelman b.c that artest, brooks, yao, barry, chuck unit was manhandling the mavs every time they were in. Tmac + battier usually mesh well so we will see more of that when they come back

Adelman is just not a defensive coach. Scola is still getting silly fouls. And you don't have much size past Yao and him. I think the Rockets are loaded talent-wise, but they have a ton of work to do defensively. The Grizzlies gave them problems last night. Obviously, it's early. They have all year to work on that. But they have to. You can't win in the playoffs giving up so many points.

I love my Spurs...and I am not saying we can't beat them..but with all the match up problems we would have with them it would be an extremely tall order. They very big, athletic team that has three legit all-star caliber players.
The Lakers would have similar problems. Gasol is soft big man who would likely be bullied by Landry and Scola. With all those hard-nosed forwards they have I would even go as far as to say that Gasol would almost be useless in a series against the Rockets. This would leave Bynum and Odom to help Kobe shoulder the load...and Kobe would have his own issues because Artest would be hounding him the whole series. I don't see why Laker fans aren't more worried.

The Rockets are only going to get better. Tracy got virtually no playing time with the rest of the group during the preseason and Battier still hasn't even practiced. The Grizz were down 2 with 3 mins to go...
And Adelman said it best about the tempo... he wants them to run too whenever they can, but they don't want to go too fast as to lose control.
And I don't think the Rockets put many clamps in the 4th tonight. The Mavs just started shooting jumper after jumper and clanking everything. Every time jHo went to the basket, he basically scored.

Injuries smart ass. We didn't have Rafer (we only had him for two games) and don't forget, 12 of those 22 games came with Yao in the lineup. Plus, TMAC, Battier, and Rafer all were playing on injuries that needed surgery right after the season.

Basically, yes. Those two points were on a drive to the basket. It was the only time he actually went to the rim. But JHo is notorious for disappearing in the second half of games

I don't see why Laker fans aren't more worried.
well, homerism is a mother fucker. I am concerned about the fakers, but some of these fucks like laker luver are really in for a rude awakening when they play the rox....lakaluva talking about punking the rox with a blowout:rolleyes:nope
by that logic how did the heat win any games last year? anyone can beat anyone on any given night in the nba
that was one game during a hot streak by the rockets. never did i say lakers would kill the rockets, just matchups arent in the rockets favor.
I wouldn't exactly say the matchups are in the Lakers' favor either. To answer your question as to who will guard Gasol when Battier and Artest on the floor, it would be who ever is playing power forward. Tracy McGrady is perfectly capable of playing minutes at the PG with Artest sliding to the 2 spot. Yes Gasol is tall, but Chuck Hayes gives Garnett fits, and I don't think Gasol is much harder to defend. Don't forget that Deke fully plans to re-sign with the team sometime throughout the season.

The Rockets look solid. I was more impressed with their subs though, really destroyed the Mavs 2nd unit.
Mavs looked good in spurts but reverted back to the same jumpshooting team in the 4th quarter. Until they get a consistent 2nd scorer that can relieve Dirk, they're going to be losing close games this season again to good teams. Howard is still a fast starter, but not much late in the game.
Brooks was torching Terry. Artest played a great game on both ends. Once Tmac gets healthy, the Rockets are dangerous. I like their bench as well, lots of young energy guys. I didn't think their defense was all that, but I think they finally have the offensive firepower to make noise this season.

Mavs were up 83-77 and Rick inserts Stack and all of a sudden the lead is gone. :bang Same happened in the 1st half when Stack entered the Rockets built their lead. If Stack doesnt show you anything when he first enters the game then Rick should realize he just doesnt have it that night. Too much Bass at center especially against Yao = no chance. Bass in spurts is fine but why the hell did you re-sign Diop if you dont plan on playing centers?

Playing championship level NBA ball isn't just about scoring points..(even though he still was able to throw up 20 & 10 on the offensive end)...Garnett took on one major role and played it well and it was a major role that took them all the way to the chip last season....that DEFENSE carried them.

Series of events here..J-Ho held Yao at the other end. Yao throws up his arms to shake him off hitting J-Ho in the face with his elbow. At the other end, J-Ho trips him making Yao fall to the floor. I am betting that the next time down the floor, Yao purposely walks into J-Ho and stares him down while Artest jumps into get the T.

I only came into the game in the third quarter..but seems like those two were going at it all night. Well at least I got the series of events right except for the Artest T.

Most around here may not be that familiar with the history between the Rockets and the Mavs, but this isn't the first time Josh Howard has gotten into incidents with Yao. I'll just say that for a long time, Rockets fans have been generally unanimous in their opinion that Josh Howard is a punk, and many hope that one day Yao issues him a well-deserved flagrant-2.
Last night's game only made it obvious that there is no love lost between Yao and Howard, and as far as I know, Howard is the only player that I've ever seen Yao bear a legitimate grudge against.

Good game. I'm happy with the win but it's to early to be talking shit. We are playing out of sync right now, on offense and defense. I am very happy with our bench this year. It seems that now we can give our starters the rest they need. The Mavs played well but they need a little more depth. It seemed like there starters tired out by the end of the game. Brooks looks like he picked up right where he left off in preseason which is excellent. Hopefully this means less Rafer( I wanted to kick my fucking TV when he took that retarded floater at the end of the third quarter). I give it a C+ but we still have a lot of work to do. If we can get it clicking on both ends I don't see us being beat. :lobt2:

They look good (rockets) no doubt, but if you watched that game Howard was burningArtest he has great hands but his feet arent as quick as they used to be Battier gaurds Kobe better ...also if they play artest and battier together who is gaurding Pau? Do you think a team with Rafer at pg is going to wina title Adelmanis right Brooks is a key ...And yao real slow we will run him down the floor ... tmac is nice but hes no Kobe hell he is no manu o Pierce either when it comes to clutch play

Watched it over and over...Artest touched Howard first. Kidd pushes Artest back. Artest runs to Yao acting like he's trying to separate them.
Refs do not fall for it and T up Artest.

No offense bro but....
Rafer saved the Rockets asses by giving them a bigger cushion on the lead against the Grizz. It's also funny how you said that and have him as your avatar.:p:

As far as the shot in the Grizz game good for him, but he should make open shots (something he doesn't do on a consistent basis). I only put him in the avatar because he's part of the team and everyone else is in my sig. I think I will be switching it back to Brooks though.:p: Rafer is what he is at this point and it's not good enough anymore.

The Mavs still have all season to make a trade to get Dirk some help. There are a lot of teams going nowhere with quality pissed off players wanting to compete for a title. Cuban doesn't mind spending money so I don't see how that Nelson boy makes his job seem as confusing as rocket science.
don't even try to defend rafer, they kept leaving him open and he couldn't make them pay.
Brooks shouldn't be a starter...but he should get ALOT more minutes

lol....You Right! except these are the same brilliant minds that turned down a Howard/Artest trade straight up.
and after the Kidd trade last year they might be a little hesitant to pull the trigger anyway.

How quickly Rocket fans forget that Rafer played a key role in your teams success last year. He may not shoot the ball well, but he does a lot of good things. You will be back on his bandwagon soon.

HORSE CRAP.....
Rafer can dribble well, and play D, but the fact that our GM keeps bringing in other PGs to try to usurp him tells you all you need to know.
Rafer is garbage.....other team's know it.......I am just glad we have Brooks who can play when Rafer struggles...which is in 3/4ths of the games.

To Rafer's credit he wasn't able to work on his jumpshot because he said he spent most of the offseason rehabing his injury....
Rafer's shot (and I say that loosely) will come around, even he hasn't historically been this bad. Remember the start of last season when the entire team shot well below their career averages early on (even Battier).....he'll come around.
Rafer is garbage RIGHT NOW, but over the full course of a season he is not garbage.....he is what he is, a very safe, solid, and servicable PG. Rafer and Brooks will make for a nice rotation at the 1 spot.

exactly DD, you, me, and other rockets fans know exactly what it is about Rafer that makes us want to break our TV. Rafer at his best (last season) was a decent PG that did what players are supposed to do..HIT OPEN SHOTS.
The guy was nowhere close on his 3 pt attempts and that ugly floater still lives in my nightmares. A championship caliber team can't have a PG that just decides to show up some games and disappear completely the next.
Was it just me or did you notice the team had no sense of direction when Rafer was on the floor? It was the opposite between him and brooks last season

i dont like rafer either but his shot will come around. im hoping rafer/brooks split time equally this season.
Rafer may not like it but tough shit he was never supposed to be a starting PG.
