Great episode. There was actually some tension to the first part with Tony sneaking around because I was still convinced he might get killed. You don't get that with Jack anymore. It's not a matter of if, but when he'll get the job done.

And in retrospect, I really should have seen that final twist coming. They started talking about pardoning Tony and sort of bringing around a redemptive end to his story arc, so it was either time for him to fade out of the season or find something new to do. And Larry and Renee were all like, "We need to talk about us, yadda yadda yadda", (all over FBI comms no less!) so him getting whacked shouldn't have been a huge shocker.

Tony's going to need a very good villain speech to make any sense of what the hell's doing though. He's got to have a very specific target picked out for that canister if he was going to bother torching Hodges missiles but still had a plan to get his hands on some.

And I didn't grind my teeth nearly as much as I thought I would with Kim's arrival, but there's still plenty of time left. Hopefully she and Renee will turn to each other with the loss of Larry and Jack's impending doom and emotionally support each other by making out like drunken spring breakers in the shower.

Jack isn't out of commission for this season yet. True, he turned down the stem cell treatments, but i think kim is not going anywhere . Either she's going to be kidnapped by Cougar terrorists, or Jack will wind up getting the stem cells.

Maybe this is why. When Jack learns that Tony "killed" Larry and is up to something, he may get the treatment because he knows nobody else could put an end to this. I doubt Jack would have the treatment just to go after Hodge's mysterious boss.

I just didn't feel as confident with him as with Jack like you said. I was on the edge of my seat when Tony was following the lead bad guy around to the tanks. like when it starts getting nice out (remember I'm in Ohio) the last thing I want to do is watch TV. When this season will be ending it will be like 70 and nice outside and the playoffs will be good. I know it's on at 9, but still.

Tony working for the same shadowy group that was behind Hodges finally brings this season to what I like to call the Moment of Jenga, where so many pieces have been moved around and thrown back in that the whole thing just collapses under the weight of the producers design.

I can understand Tony torching the missiles and stealing the canister. Hodges stupidity was threatening to expose them; they didn't want a full out war but at least needed some of the bioweapon so they could reproduce it later for whatever the hell they want. That's fine. But what the blonde clone lawyer (who apparently wears the exact same glasses prescription as the dead blonde lawyer, who was really hot.) said about Tony being "the lone bright spot" makes no damn sense. If they were behind all of this garbage then Tony introducing the elements that captured the CIP device and passing along intel that ultimately thwarted the attack on the White House doesn't seem to help anyone over there.

The only explanation I can even stretch to come up with at this point is that that shit was all Hodges little private endeavor, "they" found out, felt that it was too big of a risk, and "they" got Tony to undermine the operation. Even that's pretty thin.

And the FBI's EMT needs to be fired. "Mr. Almeida's wound was consistent with a 9 millimeter." I don't know if your average EMT can figure out the caliber of a weapon just by looking at the size of the wound, but I would think that anyone with half a brain would notice the powder burns all over Tony's clothes and skin consistent with a point blank, self inflicted gun shot wound.

Even with all of that, I still enjoyed this episode. For starters, next to no President Dumbskank. And just as little of Kim thankfully. Easjer's theory is that the grandkid was introduced because we'll find out that Kim and Steve, whoever the fuck he is, saved the cord blood, and that's what they can use for saving Jack instead of exposing Kim to whatever nebulous risk Jack was so worried about.

And honestly, I kind of like Evil Tony. Has any one person ever gotten the better of Jack so totally as when Tony played the, "Looking for this?", card on Jack as he started shaking. Most importantly, as Jack desperately looked for his meds while beginning to convulse, could that be considered "search and seizure"?

I'm kind of leaning that way too. There's three options in this case:
1) The hitman just watched 'Pay It Forward' and figured, "What the heck, I'll do this one pro bono. Good karma will be my paycheck."
2) Aaron, the only other person that Olivia told wanting Hodges dead, set this up and is gonna leave her on the hook. It seems like a bit of reach that he could put that all together, especially since he's such a straight arrow, but then again this is 24. Shit happens.
3) President Dumbwhore double crossed Hodges and set this thing up herself, in which case I would almost stop hating her enough to remember what her actual name is.

Of the three, 2 seems the most likely. Aaron's definitely up to something, which is just plain weird.

As for the rest of it, just a filler episode. They have a few every year. They suck.

It's a rehash of rehashed script, coercing someone into betraying their country by threatening someone they love, Tony has been in that position before and so has Jack, come on script writers when are you going to realise a plot twist is only a twist if it's exciting and people didn't see it coming. We could see it coming on Tony's reaction when he first heard Kim was in town.

I think Tony is a good guy afterall and is trying to set up a meeting with the man behind the plot because he knows it's the only way to stop it. There were some clues, like not wanting to kill jack, and when jack took the van hostage tony said something like "jack what are you doing" but if he were a bad guy why would he care.

I think that but tony did go pretty far through the plot of actally letting a bomb go off, and trying to cover it up by breaking the handheld device and all that which doesn't fit my theory and I can't explain

She was the one who stabbed that woman, AND she got that guy's laptop in order to help locate that guy Mills. Her following that guy retrieving that lap proved to be the key component. Even your g/f gave her props.

What a lame fucking ending to the show.

The Finale had cliche after cliche that it was unbearable to watch at times. What the fuck is it with everyone's cell phone running out of batteries? Are you seriously going to have me believe that shit?

Tony Almeada was the strongest character throughout the season. He made you doubt him, like him, sympathize with him, hate him, and then finally pity him. I know that they're going to rehash his character next season, but I don't want to think about that just yet.

Renee became likable at the end. I like how she finally gave in to the common sense approach that sacrificing ideals to save hundreds, if not thousands to millions, of lives is completely justifiable.

But, what ruined the season was the President or, to clarify, the actor who played the President. God damn, even in the end when she's faced with her daughter having committed murder, there was no visible rage. I mean, what the fuck were the directors thinking letting her mail in her performance throughout the season? And, was the whole subplot of her daughter fucking shit up really necessary? Really, was all that shit necessary?

The writers could have given us slight of hand and made us firmly believe that Ethan had a hand in everything that was going on, but instead they chose to focus on an extremely weak subplot.

But, I just can't get over just how bad the President was this season. I mean, we've had David Palmer who was tough as shit and brought the hammer down on his own family, mainly his wife, without giving it much thought. He knew what he had to do as President and he never flinched. Wayne Palmer put his life on the line, knowing that he would die, without skipping a beat. Noah Daniel, while being somewhat naive, at least had the conviction that was he was doing was right. You felt that he was hell bent on bombing the shit out of that Mid East country, he emoted wrath. Fuck, even Charles Logan was brilliantly played by Gregory Itzin. Yea, he was a fuck up, but he was meant to be portrayed as being a fuck up. Itzin played him brilliantly. We were supposed to hate him.

Cherry Jones, on the other hand, did a piss poor job on playing the role of President Allison Taylor. We didn't need more proof on that than last night's performance. When she is confronted with the fact that her daughter set up for Hodge's to be murdered all she basically did was raise her voice. At one point she called her daughter "Darling" as she was supposed to be yelling at her.

The Palmer's would've told off the kid and told them that they were fucked. Daniel would've killed the kid himself, and Logan would've at least hired someone to take the kid out.

But, Taylor . . . oh, fuck is she some weak bitch. And, having her go away to make the difficult decision to arrest her daughter doesn't make her character any stronger. It weakens her even more.

I just can't stand what they did with the character. The writers had a chance to make the first female President hard as nails. They had the chance to make her tough as shit, in the tradition of David Palmer, the first black President, instead they made a caricature of her. They made the first female President to be exactly what mean fear the most, weak and vulnerable.

It is truly a disappointment and it pretty much ruined the season for me.
