For now, at least...
We have a very big game tomorrow vs. a very good 29-8 Magic team.
We lost 90-78 back in our first meeting. I don't remember that game much, but apparently, judging by the box score alone, we did a decent defensive job on Orlando - 90 points on 44% shooting. Not bad if you ask me, they are a good offensive team.
The problem was our offense. However, it was the Big Three who struggled that game. Parker was 3-17, Duncan was 7-17, and Ginobili was 4-12. Our role players actually showed up and produced. The Big Three are obviously going to have to be more efficient than that. Our role players gave us 40 points vs. this Magic team, and if they can duplicate that performance, all the Big Three have to do is show up and give us their typical 50-60 points. I realize that the first meeting was on a back to back and the Spurs were exhausted after a physical game in New Orleans so hopefully a couple of days of rest will do us some good.
Now, Jameer Nelson absolutely torched us last game. 11-18 from the field for 24 points and 7 assists. Parker needs to bring his A game defensively.
So basically what I'm saying is the Spurs need to hit their shots (obvious but they don't always do it). I'm assuming we will play a bit of small ball but I'm hoping Pop will give Bonner some significant time on Lewis. Defensively, I'm hoping to see a better effort on Jameer Nelson, but again, we contained Turkoglu and Lewis rather well (according to the box score) so I'm wondering if Nelson just picked up the slack. Additional thoughts please?
