yes.
the spurs need to concentrate on the magic, and not the lakers.
neither games are 'must-wins', but both will be good measuring sticks.
For now, at least...
We have a very big game tomorrow vs. a very good 29-8 Magic team.
We lost 90-78 back in our first meeting. I don't remember that game much, but apparently, judging by the box score alone, we did a decent defensive job on Orlando - 90 points on 44% shooting. Not bad if you ask me, they are a good offensive team.
The problem was our offense. However, it was the Big Three who struggled that game. Parker was 3-17, Duncan was 7-17, and Ginobili was 4-12. Our role players actually showed up and produced. The Big Three are obviously going to have to be more efficient than that. Our role players gave us 40 points vs. this Magic team, and if they can duplicate that performance, all the Big Three have to do is show up and give us their typical 50-60 points. I realize that the first meeting was on a back to back and the Spurs were exhausted after a physical game in New Orleans so hopefully a couple of days of rest will do us some good.
Now, Jameer Nelson absolutely torched us last game. 11-18 from the field for 24 points and 7 assists. Parker needs to bring his A game defensively.
So basically what I'm saying is the Spurs need to hit their shots (obvious but they don't always do it). I'm assuming we will play a bit of small ball but I'm hoping Pop will give Bonner some significant time on Lewis. Defensively, I'm hoping to see a better effort on Jameer Nelson, but again, we contained Turkoglu and Lewis rather well (according to the box score) so I'm wondering if Nelson just picked up the slack. Additional thoughts please?

The knee-jerks on this forum are going to lose their tiny little minds if the Spurs lose either game.
they'll suggest we:
A. trade manu and/or parker.
B. fire pop.
C. tank the season.
good suggestions, just not the right ones for this spurs team, i don't think.
lol
brace yourself.
The Spurs will focus on Magic game tomorrow. I'm not even worried about that. And they will have their hands full with Orlando.
However, fans will look ahead and have every right too. We know as Spurs fans playing the Lakers gets our juices going.
Both Lakers fans and Spurs fans are looking forward to Wednesday night's game!!
Oh I know, it was more of a "Hey let's not get ahead of ourselves" sort of thread. I enjoy the Laker talk as well but we do have a tough game before the Lakers game, one that could be just as tough. I know you made a thread about the Lakers game and I like that thread so it wasn't in reference to youIt was more to all of us myself included. I've been swept up in the Laker talk.
No problem!!
I wasn't attacking you!!

I would hope we win at least 1 of these next 2 games, I expect to win both..
the first Orlando game was a back to back when we got in from a tough NO game at 3 AM..it's tough to win on the road vs. an elite team in those cir stances..
we actually cut the lead down to 6 in the mid-4th, and looked like we were making a run to win..but Tony had a horrible turnover, leading to an Orlando score and a loss of all our momentum..summarized the game TP was having..I expect a much better game from him tomorrow..
