I signed into XboxLive for the first time last night and I just love how innovative it is. I decided to try out the movie section and they wanted about 400 gamer points to rent one, which is about $7 fucking dollars to buy! $7 for one movie for 24 hours! FUCK THAT!

Also I was playing COD4 and I noticed that they are charging you money for the Variety Map Pack?? 800 points!?! And little screen savers and images for 50 points each?? I don't know the exact figure but if I was to buy the whole thing, it would be damn near $30!

K i rechecked it, the movie is 480 gamerpoints to get. 500 gamer points costs $6.25 to get. Its still a fuckin ripoff man. At Blockbusters I can rent a movie/game for 6 bucks and keep it for 5 days. The Redbox is $1 + taxes a day.

Yeah, no doubt it's a ripoff. But who buys 500 points? The larger amount you buy, the cheeper it is.

10 bucks for 4 maps is worth it. Some of the DLC is overkill but you aren't forced to buy it.

I don't mind them charging for some stuff like maps, but gamer pics and themes should be free.

Just wondering where? I thought it was a $5 = 400 pts conversion pretty much everywhere no matter what the amount... in stores, online, etc. Where is it possible to get a different conversion? I'd be interested.

Yeah that's exactly what I did and ordered Goodfellas and Season 4 of the Office.

But I think what really bothered me is paying money for new maps. In my gaming experience they were always free so I was just kind of suprised at this. I'm already getting bored of the original COD4 maps so I'll most likely give in and cough up the fuckin $12 to get the 1000 gamerpoints.

Very few studios offer free DLC for their games. BTW, 3 of the 4 cod 4 expansion maps suck. They're worth getting, but... meh.

I'm too much of an achievement point whore to really get into CoD4 MP enough to purchase those. When I play I do well... but I've always been good at FPS's. It's just that I know I'm not playing for any achievement bubble to pop up so it dampens my enthusiasm a bit.

Which one you like...killhouse?

Creek, just because I snipe so much, but it's actually a fairly poorly designed map IMO. If I weren't a good sniper I'd hate it.

I actually think Killhouse, Chinatown and Broadcast are decent for tactical gametypes but I absolutely loathe those maps for deathmatch and free for all.

I'm trying to think of Killhouse (too much CoD 5 in the membrane) but Broadcast, Creek, and Chinatown were all very much worth the money if you ask me.

Creek's two towns sort of idea is good, I just think it'd have benefitted from better balancing - the big town is much easier to hold than the small one.

Broadcast is just a good overall map, probably the best built of the new ones. The outside portion is still used heavily despite the map being based around the inside of one structure. There's a lot of different paths to take but overall feels good balance wise.

Chinatown is actual extensiveness is probably its only real problem .. in terms of urban conflict its about as much as you could want. There's a lot of different pathways to take, gotta always be watching your back.

The biggest problem I have with paying for these maps is that there's no filter for maps, so stupid - you pay for the new maps and only play them 10-15% of the time, when you would much rather play the shit out of the new maps first thing instead of cycling through the usual bullshit. That's probably CoD's biggest lacking point - even trying to compare their online options/data (there are none essentially) to Halo 3's is impossible. Saving replays from matches etc should just be standard on a game as popular as CoD.

+1

I'd be surprised if Infinity Ward doesn't add that feature to MW2. I can't believe Treyarch didn't for WaW.

Games like savage 2 save replays to every match ever played.

I believe my friend told me Skate 2 offers the option to even upload your videos online for you after you save them.

^ That's a bummer your sig doesn't work anymore. I used to always play that shit.

If I want to record I just do it 1st person with my mini-dvr, so it's not that big a deal, but all things equal I'd rather have the game do it.

Why does it seem like everybody knows where I'm at? I always seem to get hit with a nade (literally) from being tossed 4 blocks away! I have UVJammer as one of my perks so I don't understand how they are finding me.

Another question, how do you unlock the M16 fully automatic weapon? Its a good gun but I hate that burst fire. I'm only a rank 20 btw.

Because people are insanely good and they do know where you're at.

If I have three grenades I sometimes toss them into camping spots I know people like, whether I know someone's there or not. Once you know the maps and how to judge your throws it gets pretty easy to lob grenades across a map into a specific building or corner. If you're playing free for all don't camp unless you're good with claymores or want to get eaten alive.

And on deathmatch people just chuck those bitches at random as soon as they spawn. It's a real problem on certain maps.

Another question, how do you unlock the M16 fully automatic weapon? Its a good gun but I hate that burst fire. I'm only a rank 20 btw.
Buy a turbo controller... it's not a fully automatic gun and you can't unlock it to be one. A fully automatic M16 is an M4 more or less. I didn't and haven't played with the M16 for a long time, but for a while it was my favorite gun. It's hands down the most powerful gun in the game IMO (not literally, but in terms of ease of use, the M16 just pwns people). With Stopping Power one burst to the torso, chest, neck or head is a kill. And I always use steady aim with it, so I can rock an Acog but still get close kills from the hip.

1) People throw nades in ''hot spots'' meaning places where people like to frequently walk through or camp.
2) m16 is the strongest gun in the game and cheapest
3) another reason they find you are X4 ear phones that allow you to hear surround sound type like audio through a headset

But I've picked up M16's from the ground and they were fully automatic. I figured they were guns dropped by dead guys but I guess they were just goodies huh?

Nope. Unless you've somehow stumbled onto an incredibly fortunate and previously unknown glitch, you've picked up M4's. They look almost identical, but the M16 barrel is wider.

+1. Seriously. My entire gaming life additional content has been free, a thank-you to the players. The Xbox360 and Microsoft's death-grip on the market changed everything. As usual they came in and implemented a system that makes you depend on them and give them money (or rather, the developers with the cost passed to the gamers).

I own nothing pre-2003 that I had to pay for things like new maps.

Developers need to stop being retarded and follow Blizzard's model better. Most of them just want to make WoW-clones when the real reason that their content is so popular and their games so profitable is their close relationship to the gamer. Fast and free patches, free legacy support for games that are getting old now, free maps, free content, well-done expansions, etc, etc, etc.

Contrast this with everything under the EA games label which is the total opposite. Slow patches, expensive content, expansions announced weeks after game release (WTF), crappy support, etc, etc, etc.

ANYWHO, times are changing, and I don't mind paying for most content. I'm wary of so many game developers nowadays, I only play stuff from Blizzard/Valve/Square-Enix as a 'loyal' customer.
