yeah it's a huge ripoff. and the wallpapers and such in' blow! i bought a spurs image for 50 points i believe.
I signed into XboxLive for the first time last night and I just love how innovative it is. I decided to try out the movie section and they wanted about 400 gamer points to rent one, which is about $7 ing dollars to buy! $7 for one movie for 24 hours! THAT!
Also I was playing COD4 and I noticed that they are charging you money for the Variety Map Pack?? 800 points!?! And little screen savers and images for 50 points each?? I don't know the exact figure but if I was to buy the whole thing, it would be damn near $30!

400 points = 5 bucks
K i rechecked it, the movie is 480 gamerpoints to get. 500 gamer points costs $6.25 to get. Its still a in ripoff man. At Blockbusters I can rent a movie/game for 6 bucks and keep it for 5 days. The Redbox is $1 + taxes a day.
Yeah, no doubt it's a ripoff. But who buys 500 points? The larger amount you buy, the cheeper it is.
I thought the real question was who rents movies just
download them ......![]()
Welcome to the real world, everything is a ripoff
10 bucks for 4 maps is worth it. Some of the DLC is overkill but you aren't forced to buy it.
I don't mind them charging for some stuff like maps, but gamer pics and themes should be free.
Just wondering where? I thought it was a $5 = 400 pts conversion pretty much everywhere no matter what the amount... in stores, online, etc. Where is it possible to get a different conversion? I'd be interested.
I think Amazon has 4000 for 30 bucks sometimes
I paid 60 pts for a spurs gamerpic. =]
cheaper to just do the netflix for 8 dollars a month and any movie u want, unlimited amout. thats wut i do
Yeah that's exactly what I did and ordered Goodfellas and Season 4 of the Office.
But I think what really bothered me is paying money for new maps. In my gaming experience they were always free so I was just kind of suprised at this. I'm already getting bored of the original COD4 maps so I'll most likely give in and cough up the in $12 to get the 1000 gamerpoints.
I got a few for xmas and im still sitting on 2 or 3 thousand points. im probably gonna get operation anchorage for fallout... but i need to see if anything is coming out soon i may want to get just so i have extra.
Netflix. You can even stream it on your Xbox.

Very few studios offer free DLC for their games. BTW, 3 of the 4 cod 4 expansion maps suck. They're worth getting, but... meh.
I'm too much of an achievement point to really get into CoD4 MP enough to purchase those. When I play I do well... but I've always been good at FPS's. It's just that I know I'm not playing for any achievement bubble to pop up so it dampens my enthusiasm a bit.
Which one you like...killhouse?
Creek, just because I snipe so much, but it's actually a fairly poorly designed map IMO. If I weren't a good sniper I'd hate it.
I actually think Killhouse, Chinatown and Broadcast are decent for tactical gametypes but I absolutely loathe those maps for deathmatch and free for all.
I'm trying to think of Killhouse (too much CoD 5 in the membrane) but Broadcast, Creek, and Chinatown were all very much worth the money if you ask me.
Creek's two towns sort of idea is good, I just think it'd have benefitted from better balancing - the big town is much easier to hold than the small one.
Broadcast is just a good overall map, probably the best built of the new ones. The outside portion is still used heavily despite the map being based around the inside of one structure. There's a lot of different paths to take but overall feels good balance wise.
Chinatown is actual extensiveness is probably its only real problem .. in terms of urban conflict its about as much as you could want. There's a lot of different pathways to take, gotta always be watching your back.
The biggest problem I have with paying for these maps is that there's no filter for maps, so stupid - you pay for the new maps and only play them 10-15% of the time, when you would much rather play the out of the new maps first thing instead of cycling through the usual bull . That's probably CoD's biggest lacking point - even trying to compare their online options/data (there are none essentially) to Halo 3's is impossible. Saving replays from matches etc should just be standard on a game as popular as CoD.
+1
I'd be surprised if Infinity Ward doesn't add that feature to MW2. I can't believe Treyarch didn't for WaW.
Games like savage 2 save replays to every match ever played.
I believe my friend told me Skate 2 offers the option to even upload your videos online for you after you save them.
^ That's a bummer your sig doesn't work anymore. I used to always play that .
If I want to record I just do it 1st person with my mini-dvr, so it's not that big a deal, but all things equal I'd rather have the game do it.
