The Spurs are also expected to defend their title in the shooting stars competition, an event won last season by the trio of Tim Duncan, David Robinson and Silvers Stars player Becky Hammon.

Who would you send out there?

1. Current Baller
2. Legendary Baller
3. Lady Baller

Manu Ginobili
Sophia Young

I like that.

I would not mind Hammon being back either.

I think Barry is much brighter a shooting star than Manu. Manu is more capable overall though.

1. Jacque Vaughn
2. Mengke Bateer
3. Juwanna Mann

More seriously, though...

Manu Ginobili (most likely to hit half court shot)
Steve Kerr
Shanna Crossley (when healthy)

:lol

Sorry, I didn't get to see Sato enough in a Spurs uniform to determine if he's worthy of the NBA Legend spot.

Bateer's shooting with the Spurs sealed the deal for me, though. 4-17 from the field, 0-2 from the FT line, and 1-3 from three-point range. :smokin

I'm guessing they'll use Tim & David again, or Tim with someone else (not Sean). Since Tony is playing in the skills challenge, I doubt he'll be in this competition (though he was on the team that holds the record).

Crossley or Buescher would be my choices from the stars. Though Hammon is clutch as hell.

I want to see Timmy and David play again and show them who the real long-range shooters are in this league.

I hope it's Tim, David, and Becky again.

They just seemed to enjoy it, and when they won it was like they didn't even care. They seemed like it was just a fun joke...

The interview was funny as shit imo...

I don't think I've ever seen the same Shooting Stars Team play twice, not just for the Spurs, but for any of the teams.

In addition to Kerr being the Phoenix GM...he was on the first or second Spurs Shooting Stars Team IIRC, and I've never seen anyone do a Shooting Stars Comp twice, not just the Spurs, but any of the teams.

Don't worry though...I have a feeling Kerr isn't going to the Suns GM for much longer if that's all that's keeping him from doing it.

In that case, I think they'll send Manu and Sean. Don't know who they'll send from our girls varsity team because I don't know who's on the roster outside of Hammon.

As far as I know the winning team returns, .

I think you're right that the winning team returns...but I don't believe they have the same Legend and WNBA player. The Tim Dave and Becky team was the second Spurs Shooting Stars Champs, the first one was Kerr, Parker and a WNBA player, I don't remember who she was but it wasn't Becky Hammon, and I don't remember Kerr or Parker defending that title. I think Kerr was replaced by Gervin and he sucked pretty hard. Parker might have been part of it but I don't think the WNBA player was the same...

The NBA player will probably be an All Star so you can see why he would return since most teams only have one or two of those...but it kind of makes sense for them to switch out the Legends and WNBA players so they can all have a chance to play....especially the WNBA players. So I don't think Dave or Hammons will be back.

The 2004 team was Manu, Kerr and Jennifer Azzi (they finished 2nd - barely).

2005 - Spurs didn't have a team.

The 2006 team (the one that holds the record) was Parker, Kerr and Kendra Wecker.

The 2007 team was same as 2006, but Gervin instead of Kerr.

That's weird because I only remember Kerr playing on that one and I don't ever remember any of the other NBA teams returning Legends and WNBA players either...but I guess they can if those are the teams.

I think the current Spur in that competition might be Mason.

I could see Avery Johnson being the legend who suits up -- I'd be surprised if it was Dave again. Sean, with his Arizona ties, would make a lot of sense in that respect. But AJ somehow seems to fit the bill.

Considering someone asks that everytime she gets brought up around here, you should feel comfortable in that you are not alone.

She's not often. Mostly after last years shooting stars, when she received her Russian citizenship, and during the Olympics. That's all I can remember in terms of her being a big part of the discussion.

It will most likely be Becky, Timmy and David. They are on tap but not confirmed. It really depends on Becky being able to come home.
Sophia is not a 3 point shooter and is currently playing in Turkey so she is not an option and Erin Buecher is currently in Greece.
If Becky can't come in from playing overseas they will send Shanna.
