I don't even like AJ, but I know that he averaged nearly 10 assists in one season, that he shot over 49% from the floor for four seasons in a row, that he's the current all-time assist leader, and that nearly every player who was on the 1999 team has said in public that he made them a better player through motivation and inspiration.

Sean was great last night. The mention of Rose was very ballsy. I am glad he said it!!
I think AJ's number should be retired.... But only one of them.The whole ceremony was very moving, and of course classy. I expected no less from the organization. San Antonio really does have the best fans in the world.

No, especially a team that is #1 in the league and relies of team chemistry perhaps more than any championship team in the history of bball.

Avery Johnson was a nice guard with a very animated perspective on what works and what doesn't. If he was as good as the audience there last night thought, he wouldn't have played for every Western team in the NBA, nor would the Spurs have thought of trading him or cutting him. I agree, if the Spurs hang his jersey up, it's "Katy Bar the Door!" Everyone's jersey will be up there

Thought it was solid of both Tony and Manu to wear #32 jerseys to the ceremony. Neither played with Sean, but both respected the man and the event by wearing his jersey.

Not really related to the current conversation, but this is a very nice picture. I was there when they were taking these pictures at halftime. It was great to be in the room with these five, along with Kerr, Peter Holt, Governor Perry, etc.

I do not believe that.

Pop does not change his successful winning teams in mid stream.
Rose was helping the team on and off the court, he is better than Nazr, this move was not a basketball decision, it was total front office driven. Now having said that, it was Pop's decision to give Rose that inflated contract, so he probably felt some pressure from the owner to remedy the mistake.

Pop has said himself to the media and to Rose himself that they were trying to trad ehim that they would continue trying to trade him.

Pop told this to Rose in the final meetings last summer after he was nearly traded to New York.

Pop knew of Rose being traded. Pop knew he had to trade Rose in order to make moves in the future.

When the Spurs gave Rose the contract in '02, no one knew that Tony would be who he is, no one knew what the hell some skinny kid from Arg. was going to do or be as good as he would be.

They got the big contracts and because of that, the Malik was the odd man out.

Pop knew this. Pop knew he had to trade Malik.

To think Pop just siad, ok, when a trade came up is beyond stupid,

They have not played a good game since the trade.They are 4-1 since the trade and their average margin of vistory is 3.2. Coincidence? Hardly.

That was a nice ceremony for Sean. It made me cry some :cry. I'm so glad he's staying around and still being part of the Spurs. I wish him the best in the future.
