I'm sorry, but for Avery to get louder cheers than David, Pop and Sean means simply that #6 must hang in the rafters of the SBC next to Sean, David, Johnny, James and George.
Enough with the Tony, Manu, etc. talk...
Avery's sending Sean to Japan? Not a bad retirement gift...

And what the is up with MySA.com spelling it "Elliot"?
if #6 hangs, the whole thing will be a joke.
Guess the Pop and Holt haters tonight when Pop and Sean had great things to say about each other.
And the great things Sean said about Peter Holt.
Boy, really mustve made the haters flinch.
And the great things Sean said about Avery Johnson.
Boy, really mustve made the haters flinch.
Especially when he said they wouldn't have won anything without him.
avery did look somewhat happy.
What all with the asswhoopin he got that day.
It will be hanging soon.if #6 hangs, the whole thing will be a joke.
Avery got an amazing standing ovation tonight. Both Sean and Steve Kerr brought up that his jersey will be going up. I think that it will happen not next season, but the following one.
adios to retired jerseys having any cred, just my opinion though.
Both Elliott and DRob have repeatedly said that Avery was the driving force behind the Championship team in 1999. Their opinions probably carry a little more weight.adios to retired jerseys having any cred, just my opinion though.
By the way, if anyone missed the Video Tribute from tonight's ceremony. You can find it here.

so now vocal leaders deserve to have there jerseys retired??Both Elliott and DRob have repeatedly said that Avery was the driving force behind the Championship team in 1999.
stretching it.
How about being the franchise's All-Time assist leader?
Thanks, Kori!
I was going to e-mail the Spurs asking if they could post this since we didn't get it all on FSN.
But Kori, I mean, this IS T Park saying this. He has to carry more weight than D-Rob, Kerr, Elliott and the organization, right.
So now I can't have an opinion??
Alrighty.
artis gilmore needs to have 53 retired.
See, it's like that beer commerical when they say there are no stupid questions. Then immediately retract it with the stupid questions.
Comments like "adios to retired jerseys having any cred" spell it out.
Hata.
Agreed.
He won't have that assist record when Tony gets done here, Manu might break it too.
That doesn't matter, he holds it now. I don't even like AJ, but I know that he averaged nearly 10 assists in one season, that he shot over 49% from the floor for four seasons in a row, that he's the current all-time assist leader, and that nearly every player who was on the 1999 team has said in public that he made them a better player through motivation and inspiration.
Two things (one good, one bad) about the MDM that realized again when I saw the tape.
1. Greg Anthony was on that Blazers team. Haw Haw!
2. Sean contributed to the continuation of "Go Spurs Go." Bad Sean!
Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.
Of all threads, can we not turn this one into a "AJ - yes or no" thread?
Thanks, Kori!
I just wish they used something other than RealMedia...![]()
I have a RM alternative if you want it.
Might be interested...I can't/don't have RM at work, and given the fact that the damn thing comes loaded with every spamware application known to the free world, there is no way in I'm loading it up at home...
Did anyone catch the retirement ceremony on DirectTV?
I watched the game on DISH Network, and they cutoff the feed right after the final buzzer... called 'em up, they blamed it in Fox Sports...
I'm trying to figure out who to blame so I can fuss at them.
