This is kind of a spin-off thread to the Pacers moving one, but what if they became the St. Louis Pacers or even the Kansas City Pacers? I'm an NBA fan in missouri and we have teams for every other professional sport, where's b-ball? they'd probly do well here. I'm sure Seattle would be bidding higher than STL or KC but what do you guys think?

they had a lot of fans during the AS game and i rmbr someone on NBA tv saying it was a test to see the fans as well. YES, any NBA team would do awesome there...you're talking about the Casino capital of the world....

I do think KC will get the next team which would be cool for me since I'm a big Royals fan. I wish New Orleans had a baseball team. Growing up the closest team was 6-7 hours away.

I wish that genius Stern could explain the latest franchise relocations. Who moves from Vancouver to Memphis and Seattle to Oklahoma City? The Grizzlies move to Memphis has already proven to be a disaster.

You used to have teams in both cities. I think the NBA would be more inclined to go back to Seattle but who knows.

KC has a brand spanking new arena ready to go. Seattle still has shitty Key arena. Do the math. They were told they'd be considered for a franchise if they replaced Key, and so far they haven't.

yea the Sprint center is nice, I seen it when I went back home. Sittin there waiting for a franchise. A year before it was built I remember them talking about Orlando coming their, but I dont think that team is going anywhere anytime soon.

Do you have any conception of how tiny a city Las Vegas is?

Yeah it's almost as small as Green Bay.

Half again as large as Green Bay. But smaller than any media market currently served by an NBA team except Oklahoma City, Memphis, and New Orleans. On par with Norfolk, NJ and Albuquerque, NM.

Larger cities lacking a team are Tampa, Seattle, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Raleigh-Durham, San Diego, Nashville, Hartford, Kansas City, Columbus, Cincinnati, Greenville, West Palm Beach, Grand Rapids, Birmingham, and Harrisburg.

And it's not exactly as if Las Vegas is on the firmest of economic footing in any case.

Of course they are gunning for an NHL team first, but if the right deal comes along, who knows?

The league decided two years ago to have a team in Vegas. They even hired my ex-firm to tell them to do so. And so we did :-)

Days before the announcements the referee scandal broke out.

Till the local economy bounces back and the betting related issues are forgotten, other cities will be in a better position. But there will be a team in Vegas some day, it makes perfect sense.

All the NBA needs to do now is hire my ex-firm again to tell them which is the next most suitable city.
