Sounds good to me.
I like Ed Schultz and will find this a refreshing change.
But I do listen to to conservative shows so that I know what they are talking about. I listen to the Savage Nation, Laura Ingram, Rush, the William Bennett show, Sean Hannity, the Factor, Jeff Bolton and others.
Need to know where they are coming from.

The city's first ever commercial FM talk radio station will also be the first to be programmed with a liberal slant, officials of Clear Channel Communications announced today.
KRPT will sign on the air Thursday morning at 8AM on 92.5FM. The station is currently called KHTY and formats urban and hip hop music.
"This is going to be exciting," Clear Channel Vice President and Market Manager Tom Glade said.
While 1200 WOAI Newsradio, a full service news, talk and sports station with a heavy commitment to local news and the San Antonio Spurs is by far the highest rated spoken word radio station in San Antonio, KRPT Operations Manager Nate Lundy pointed out that number two in the market is National Public Radio KSTX-FM. A gaggle of other talk and news talk stations get much lower ratings.
"You have to remember that 44 percent of Bexar County voted for John Kerry last November," Lundy said. "These are people who are crying out for talk radio."
The first show aired on KRPT will be hosted by Jerry Springer, the former Cincinnati mayor who is best known for his wild TV show featuring the antics of transvestites, hookers, and lost loves.
"The radio show is not what people would stereotype from Springer's TV show," Lundy said. "He has a political background and I think that he has the ability to discuss serious politics while being entertaining at the same time."
Veteran local liberal talker Ron Aaron has been signed to host a three hour show on Saturdays and Sundays, with a time to be determined, Lundy said.
Other personalities to appeal on KRPT will include Phil Hendrie and Lionel, both of whom have enjoyed success on WOAI, and Ed Schultz, a talk host Lundy describes as 'energetic and opinionated.'
Prominent liberal activist Jesse Jackson's Sunday show will also air on KRPT.
While liberal talk is new to San Antonio, it is also relatively new to Clear Channel. The San Antonio based company boasts a stable of conservative talkers including Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura Schlesinger, and Glenn Beck. KRPT will be the 24th progressive talk station introduced by Clear Channel, which is the nation's largest operator of radio stations, and it will be the fourth to host Springer's new radio program.
Lundy pointed out that progressive talk has found a solid niche. The progressive talk radio station in Portland Oregon ranked first among the key 25-54 year old age group in the most recent ratings.
Lundy says placing the station on FM will also add to its attractiveness.
"I think it'll be fun," he said. "I think the audience is definitely there for this kind of radio station in San Antonio."

I'd like to listen to liberal talk radio about as much as I would like to listen to conservative talk radio.
It's a polarized medium with little of stubstance to offer to anything. It really is political Jerry Springer most of the time.
Am I the only one who turns on NPR when I'm in the mood for something other than music out of my radio? They talk politics on a fairly even keel and divert themselves onto less focused items of discussion rather than simply engaging in attacking via talking points.

You never know. They might just move the "Hot 9.25" format to another dial. Then again, they might not being that "The Beat 98.5" just kills all the other stations in San Antonio in ratings. Another question, are you gonna be able to hear the damn station? Where I live on the NE side, it comes in quite staticky. Gee, maybe if they wouldn't have put the tower in Divine tx, the hip hop format would of gotten more listeners in the first place. So, I'm wondering if they're gonna change it to where all of san antonio can hear 92.5 clearly.

I like Ed Schultz and will find this a refreshing change.
Ed is/was a local talk show guy for years at local stations around here. I have no respect for him at all. I've avoided shows like him and rush because it literally gives me a headache. He used to be very conseravative and more open to discussion. I've only caught his national show a few times. It was pretty tame. I think they screen like they do on rush? His local one, maybe from being in a more conservative location, gets heated. He's the type of guy that when he gets overwhelmed on a discussion, he does the equivalent of someone on the net bitching about spelling, grammer and the amount of money they make. The biggest problem i have with him is that he's doing it for the money. From day one he got hooked in with FoxNews being the liberal counterpoint and his national show it appears he's putting on an act. It doesn't bother me that his views changed but i don't think its for the right reasons. From catching his local show on and off the past year, i thought the Gov. of ND was doing an absolutely horrible job clouded in scandal and had no chance of being relected, only to find it wasn't even a contest. The sad part to me is that his style of radio drastically changed when he switched his views and it doens't really reflect him. He's a hell of a nice guy in person.

They won't change the tower, but because it's basically a talk station, so they won't have to broadcast it in stereo, meaning they can do the station mono, and that flattens out the signal and should make it much better to hear.
I live North Central and had a little bit of trouble getting 92.5 as well as I would have liked.

Very small concession to progressives by CCC given the very large campaign contributions made to State and National Republican candidates by Hicks and CCC sponsored lobbists groups. What I want to know is when are the thinly veiled CCC sponsored anti-bush-war, pro-peace, pro-Democratic Party concerts and rallies going to be? I thought so.

Fuck that. I'm pretty sure that it was a Hicks sponsored group which was behind the purchase of the Texas Rangers which turned a $400,000~, 6 months investment for W into a multi-million dollar windfall. That's about the only time W's ever made money. He usually loses it (well, except for that time that he pulled some insider trading with Harken oil stock which was never investigated thanks again to daddy).

No really, CCC found a niche that was being overtly, in my opinion, underserved by Talk show radio. Most of Bexar County, especially the inner-loop crowd is overwhelmingly Democratic, and its about time that this silent majority gets its own side of the story out over the public airwaves. People often ask me why is it that I listen to the Limpballs, Hannities, and Savages if I find what they are saying so offensive, and I guess my answer would be because if you only take the time to listen to one side of a story in an argument, your more likely to be wrong half the time.

Between the static and another station bleeding in and out, I was able to catch some of Stephanie Miller. She's all over the place and hard to understand. She'll bring up a topic, make a cynical joke, the other guy in the studio will chime in, they'll play some parody clips, make another joke, then move on to another topic and repeat. I mean, nothing wrong with the format, but in the 30 minutes I was able to listen, there were never very serious or substantive. Pretty flimsy stuff.

I'm a HUGE Hendrie fan. His show is hilarious. Don't know that I would call it 'progressive' though. It's just comedy. WOAI had him on nights for a long time.
But honestly, I think a lot of the 'regular people callers' aren't really oblivious to Hendrie's fictitious characters. I think they are really part of the show too. When you listen to show as much as I have, you start to notice all of the 'regular people callers' all say the same kinds of things...
I think the show actually phones people and solicits volunteers to be honest. I don't know how they do it, but after you listen to the show long enough, you just start to realize that even the 'regular' folks are in on the gig.
But now that I've heard the snoozer morning guy on the "regressive radio revolution", Hendrie is going to be the flagship.
Anyway, do any of you Hendrie fans have any favorites? Two that come to my mind was the one where he has two Veterans on the show, one for WWII and one from Korean War (Both Hendrie)..and when the Korean vet mentions his participation in the Korean War, the WWII vet says, "Well, we can't all be heros" and the Korean Vet goes ballastic. The whole premise was that Korean Vets are second class heros...and they go on....it was classic.
The other one was Hendrie as some head of an organization whose aim was to sterilize Texas Longhorn fans. He felt that it was long overdue and that soceity needed to be rid of Longhorn fans, so he was making a push for the sterilization of Longhorn fans.
Hendrie is a mastermind of thinking up the zaniest scenarios and premises.
Smart of Lundy to include Hendrie on this channel.

Using those two, Hendrie actually did an "SUVs are horrible...but I really need mine" show...

Listened some to 92.5 tonight, and overall I was fairly impressed. Phil Hendrie is on from 6?-9 and is always good for a few laughs even if he tends to lean a little more to the right than the progressive audience the station is probably intended for. Lionel, who could be heard on OAI Saturdays from 5-8, then takes over from 9-12, and as most of you who read my posts already know, I am a Lionel fan. The mans got a good head on his shoulders. Then Sean Hannity's liberal lapdog, Alan Combes is on from 12-3. Overall, a fairly impressive line-up, but watch out! The commercials seem to come fast and furious.

yeah, i agree, hendrie is just a comedy skit and could be on any talk radio station... he is fucking hilarious. my favorite one was a convict saying the town should have a yellow ribbon parade because he got out of prison. he kept saying that he was just like the soldiers who coming back from a long deployment. also, he was saying his mother should get out of her house so him and another prison buddy could use it as a halfway house. man, he had some furious callers..
i think many callers are just flipping stations and don't realize the show is full of shit.. then they call in and go ballistic.
