Man, when our old guys play against young teams the age really starts to show. They look like they are walking with walkers out there. IT might have been nice had Pop kept and played Malik, Hill, and Pops. WE could have used their young energy, the current spurs look just completely out of gas.
It's what pop gets for overplaying the vets IMO.
Wait! we have Hill still on our roster!!!! oh wait...

No, actually the players on the floor are responsible for the score.
And I think Pop knows more about what's good for Tim, and by extension the team, than you do.
I disagree. Keep saying it all you want, but I straight up disagree.
Why isn't he getting on them about how they are playing right now?
He doesn't give a shit by the looks of it. I wouldn't be surprised if he's given up on the team with out Manu. He's said it so many times that I've had enough of listening to him. That is one thing I will agree with Ducks about.
TP probably doesn't give a shit either by the way he is playing so far. Tony should tell Pop - here you go play PG tonight I'm taking the night off.

stop living in the past, its not so easy to trot out a defensive lineup. Previously we had a big three in there, so we can afford to have two non contributing players - bowen and oberto in there. i really dont know the answer to ths, but i guess since he played so well earlier in the year - almost 50% from 3 :wow... pop is still givin him a chance to get back to that form. Obviously Pop does not have the same confidence he once had in Bruce, because he doesn't use him like he used to - to cool off the hot perimeter guy, whoever it may be.
When you have no Tim, you're playing Bonner rather than Horry, Bruce barely gets 12 minutes a game, and Manu is sitting )not a great individual defender, but a gifted steal-gambler), there's no way you can play D at the level we've come to expect of the Spurs.

Well said.
Whether we like it or not, this year's team is not capable of classical Spurs defense for long periods. We live or die by the jumper this year.
No it's not well said.
How do you know for sure that we couldn't get back to being a defensive team?
We've only got a small sample size to go off of and when Bruce was playing more and started those few games I thought the defense was pretty good.
Pop never even tried it long enough.
This is similar to the Dallas series is 2006. Everyone wanted to go big in that series, but Pop kept going small. Are you going to say to me that it was the right decision. It very well may have been, but Pop never even tried to go big to see how that would work out. You can't dismiss something if you don't even bother to try it and give enough time to see if it works or not.

I think we've shown we can be a solid defensive team for stretches..we're ranked 4th or 5th in the NBA IIRC..the problem is that we are unable to mix both..so when our offense is clicking, our D has been inconsistent..and when our D has been clicking, our offense has been poor..
we had the same problem last season..

Again, well said.
Obviously Pop does not have the same confidence he once had in Bruce, because he doesn't use him like he used to - to cool off the hot perimeter guy, whoever it may be.
When you have no Tim, you're playing Bonner rather than Horry, Bruce barely gets 12 minutes a game, and Manu is sitting (not a great individual defender, but a gifted steal-gambler), there's no way you can play D at the level we've come to expect of the Spurs.
