According to ESPN.com, for right now, we are the #3 seed.
yes..because out of us, Houston, and Portland, we are the only division leader. If we win our division, and remain tied with both teams, because we'll win our division, we'll have the 3. Though I'd rather have the 4 against a team like Houston, and get LA in the second round...I'd like to play LA before the WCF..

THAT IS STRAIGHT UP BS FROM that Laker fan.

Shut the fuck up. That doesn't even come close to the bad calls in critical playoff games.
I'd give that one back right now to get the better, fair calls in the playoffs that we got screwed on in 2004 and 2006.
I DO NOT like winning like that.

Well said.

The red light around the backboard did NOT go off. That's what the refs key off to make the late call.
That's what I was looking for. I heard the horn, but I didn't see the red light around the backboard light up. I really thought the horn was signaling the end of the game.

That rule needs to be changed though - all controversial calls in the final two minutes should be reviewable, which would stop bad blood like this.
I agree 100% Ruff. The only reason for the NBA to not have that rule is so they can do some shady business in games.

True, but I think Utah, Houston, or Portland all have a bigger chance of knocking LA out before they even get there. I think our chances are better against NOH and Denver/Dallas, just a little :lol

I understand the rule states that. What I meant is the NBA needs to use common sense and change that rule. Clearly, the refs can't.
I'll take the win though. We have been on the other side of many calls. Don't you think it's about time we caught a break? :toast
Definitely time we catch a break. Not to mention there were plenty of BS calls against our team tonight. This moves Spurs into 3rd!!

If it takes a screwed up call by the refs to beat the worst team in the NBA less than a week before the playoffs begin, the Spurs are in bad shape regardless. And before you mention Tim, remember Sacramento was missing their best player.
Exit is that way Ploto. Go to a Pacers board and talk about it there please.

according to Bill Land.....we are the 3 seed right now, but in order to remain the 3 seed....the easiest scenario is for us to win our last two games and Houston or Portland has to lose at least 1 game.

if both SA and Houston wins out......they would be 54-28, 2-2 head to head, 10-6 vs division, 36-16 in conference....
so who wins the Division?

Too bad about the blown call.
And we already knew that the Spurs were in major trouble.
Howeva, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili are what separate us from the mediocre teams in the league who don't won on the road against anybody.
Fail all around, ploto.
Fail for being late to the party !
Fail for not recognizing that Tim and Manu are the players that make us a special team !

barely a lead in either the division or the conference games.
I forgot which. I put it all in my thread which I started a couple of days ago-
it's got every Western Conference team's record, current seeding, who they are playing for their remaining games and the w and 3 way tiebreaker rules.
I think it titled it something stupid like Come N Get It -

better record against Western Conference playoff teams is next. then better record against the opposite conference playoff teams (ie Eastern conference)
But, this is only on the supposition that Houston wins out which evens out the division or conference records. I think Houston is a 1/2 game back from the Spurs in either division or conference.
after that it is point differential.

Conference record.
just checked. it's division.
San Antonio has a .5 game better record in its division than Houston
Spurs 9-6 in division record, Houston 8-6 in division record.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/standings;_ylt=AsnXsHpT13b0FmKX5zYOtOe8vLYF
San Antonio has a half game lead now, but if each team wins it remaining division games, they would tie there, too.

Anyways, not that the smoke cleared, anybody else thought that was terrible execution on that last play? Did they even know what they were trying to do out there?

btw, Houston's last two remaining games are
against New Orleans in Houston
and against Dallas in Dallas.
I think that are likely to lose at least one of those two, probably against New Orleans. That would make them 9-7 in the division.
If Spurs win remaining division game against New Orleans (which is in San Antonio on the 15th) , they win the division.

Just got home from the game. I haven't bothered reading through the thread yet but here's a few thoughts from my view.
Parker was mugged early on and couldn't buy a call. I'm surprised he kept attacking like he did. It's not even funny how much the drop off is when he goes to the bench.
I like Mason's agressiveness but he jacked up some questionable shots tonight. Of couse when you hit big shots like that I guess you're aloud a few jacks. I didn't care for his defense either but he had some difficult matchups in Garcia and McCants.
I'm sure Finley was ridiculed for missing shots but I like how he attacked the basket at different times and his defense was solid. A few miscues but he fought through screens and kept his man in front of him most the time. Of course the game winner was a beauty depsite the shot clock violation. Not his fault as Parker passed the ball to him with 1 second on the clock.
Thomas was a force inside. Had some nice blocked shots and got us a lot of 2nd chances. Missed a few gimmies that Parker set him up for but had timely baskets otherwise.
Gooden had some nice moves and was able to get to the ft line. I don't really remember anything spectacular from him though. Defense wasn't bad. Out of position at times but his help defense looked good.
Oberto didn't impress.
I wasn't thrilled with Bonner either. He hit a couple timely baskets but he looked out of place and was outmatched against Hawes and Thompson. Help defense was bad too.
Udoka was solid on offense but terrible on defense. And I loved watching Parker get on him from the bench to quick pump faking and then taking a shot or passing. Shoot the damn ball when you're open. Bonner did this a couple times as well.
I don't know what it was but Bowen did not look good defensively. I'm not sure if its a step slow or his habit at running out on someone and then watching them blow by. Hopefully it was just a bad night cause it doesn't bode well for us otherwise.

Houston.
They have a "better winning percentage against playoff opponents in own conference (including teams that finished the regular season tied for a playoff position)".

Screwed up earlier when I said Utah was only 1/2 game behind Dallas. Utah lost their game on the eleventh against Golden State, so they are still 1 game behind Dallas even though Dallas lost tonight to New Orleans.
However, if Utah wins their last two games and Dallas wins 1 and loses 1, then Utah is number seven seed because of holding the tiebreaker.
