That's not sure. First of all franchises aren't really rich right now. And second he looked like the kind of guy who wanted to stop somewhere for a bit more than the 3 weeks he's been used to so far.

Take into account that very few players left that the Spurs really wanted to keep. Actually I can't really think of any.

+/- is relative to the game +/-, therefore +12 in a +35 game isn't really impressive.

It's not just that. The stat is meaningless. That last game we lost to OKC by 1 point? Finley was 5-16 and he was like a revolving door for people going to the rim. Duncan was 9-12 with 12 boards and 2 blocks. Both of them were +9.

When a "stat" doesn't tell you anything meaningful about the game, it's worthless. I wish they would just quit printing it anywhere.

Thing is, this franchise has made sacrifices for 2 straight years for the 2010 plan - that is, max capspace in 2010 - and I don't see them suddenly changing that behaviour now for Drew. He's a max MLE guy at least, so how do we pay him whilst sticking to the plan? We can't.

Like it or not, the Spurs are committed to a max FA in 2010, and that's just the way it is. It's cost us Scola amongst others, but this franchise sticks to their guns once they decide on something.

2010 plan + Gooden's last big paycheck = no Gooden beyond 2009.

If I'm wrong and he stays for no money, I'll be as happy as anyone, but logic says otherwise.

:rolleyes back at ya, T Park. You honestly think Fab is going to make a meaningful contribution after his efforts this year? C'mon, he's pretty much over the hill and gone.

Yes, he'll still play a few minutes here and there for fouls, but that's it. he's shown nothing to suggest that he'll ever be a major contributor again.

You're wrong. If we win the division and tie with Portland record-wise, we get the higher seed by virtue of being the Division winner while Portland is not the winner of their own division.

really, i thought that a division winner was only guaranteed a top 4 seed not a top 3?

The division champion overrides the tiebreaker with any non division champion when the records are equal. Portland would get the better seed only if they had a better record.

The division champion overrides the tiebreaker with any non division champion when the records are equal. Portland would get the better seed only if they had a better record.

do you have a website where you got this?

i got this from nba.com:

The top four seeds will be the three division winners plus the team with the next best record. Those four will be ordered by record (and tiebreakers if needed), so it's possible that two teams in the same division could hold the top two spots, with the other two division winners at Nos. 3 and 4.

Tiebreakers
(1) Head-to-head
(2) Division record (if the teams are in the same division)
(3) Conference record
(4) Record vs. Playoff teams, own conference
(5) Record vs. Playoff teams, other conference
(6) Net points, all games

i dont see where a the division winner would take precedent in a situation where two teams have equal records. if portland and sa have identical records then the first tiebreaker would be head to head which portland wins.
