wow:wow I just can't believe we're losing to this team...:cry
Enough of blaming. We'll BE back next year.
Hope the Spurs has learned a lesson bysigning inconsistent role players this yr and too many bench warmers-bring another superstar San Antonio while Duncan is not retiring yet
doesn't matter, I already dream of Dallas choking again...(hey! Dwade is healthy again:D)

POP is so stubborn as well. cmon man SEE what the outside world is seeing fucking get YOUNGER and stop paying them washed up players (FINLEY/Vaughn/Oberto) and fucking get YOUNGER !!! i get it you need quality people but pls get players who can play as well !!!! fuck man im so sad
Pop is sort of like Phil Spector now. All his past success has made him so egomaniacal that he thinks he can defy the laws of physics, nature and math.

Better see major changes for 09-10.. With or without Manu, this team needs new young blood.. Can't believe Roger Mason and Drew Gooden barely played after playing so well earlier.. especially shocking is Roger Mason, who had a great year shooting the ball and then Pop decided to take him out.. obviously his confidence and shot are gonna fuck up when you play him 15 mins a game or less after playing him double that.. he doesn't give players chances to get back at it, thats why are offense sucked balls..

Well, that was a butt whoopin. Spurs in a must-win game get down by 14 in the first few minutes, can't fight back. All but one Maverick with a net plus, all but one Spur with a net minus. The Spurs have the luxury of blaming the loss of Manu on the end of their season, but it's a pretty lame excuse, considering the effort they brought.

Even without Manu, losing to the Mavs - yes, those Mavs - is still embarrassing. Only winning one game makes it even worse. I expect some good changes over the summer, and more emphasis on defense next year (did Hill play the entire second half?). But first:

Well, losing is a bummer, but I'm not nearly as disappointed as I was last year. The Spurs really had no realistic chance of making the Finals this year without Manu and with a hobbled Duncan. The Nuggets will bounce the Mavs in 5 games.

he's broken down man. accept it.That happened within the calendar year. One year. He injured his ankle in the lakers series, broke it in the olympics. Came back too soon, compensated on the other ankle and produced a stress fracture there. Duncan will recover from his tendonosis, and Manu will recover from his ankle injuries. That said, this team needs more help than a healthy TD and Manu can give them.

This crappy season is just as much on Pop as it is on the players. He refused to develop Hill or Hairston and he fell in love with Bonner and Finley. Mason was great when he wasn't forced to play point guard - so Pop screwed with his confidence and it ruined his game. Gooden could've been good - but Pop was stubborn there also.
Everybody needs to take a looooooooooooooooong look in the mirror - including Tim and Tony. There were many games when they didn't play with effort or intensity. This team just didn't measure up - starting with the coach all the way down to the last guy on the bench.
Oh - and Manu doesn't get a pass. I get his pride in playing for Argentina - but with his style of play, he can't continue to play so many games. Let's just hope everybody works hard in the offseason to get healthy and in shape and they come out of the gate firing on all cylinders.

Thanks to Tim, Tony, and Bruce for never giving up and for always performing to the best of their abilities. I didn't get to see the game but the score says it all. I still can't believe we are out in the first round...especially to the Mavs. Not to say the Mavs are bad because they obviously aren't, they are better than the Spurs. But really I dont' see the Mavs winning more than 1 game against Denver. Maybe I'm wrong who knows. Maybe the Front Office will recognize that getting one dimensional role players tha tonly shoot threes isn't going to cut it, because said role players DONT HIT THEIR THREES IN THE PLAYOFFS. We, for the second year in a row, didn't have the role players to keep up with our opponent. I realize Manu's injury had a lot to do with it but it's not an excuse, our role players should have stepped up and they didn't. Good luck in the next round Mavs, I still hate all of your guts but oh well. It would have been a joke if we somehow came back to win that series.

I guess it's good to just end our misery early. Even if we'd won this series by some miracle, we wouldn't have gone any further. It's just sad and embarrassing that we lose in this fashion.
But the Mavs always play so well against the Spurs - and this time (with some help from the refs), they proved to be the better team. Enjoy your 1st Round Championship Mavs fans - cuz that's all there's going to be!

I've never understood why people bother with FT stats. Nowhere does it say that each team needs to shoot the same number of FTs, or commit the same number of fouls for a game to be called correctly.
Watching the game, you could see the Spurs were getting called for endless touch fouls. To top it off, Terry jumps sideways into Hill, and gets the call. That's what stats don't tell. The refs were lame, but the Spurs' supporting cast was lamer.

I thought the officiating was terrible in game one, but it wasn't any better in game two and the Spurs won it going away. It's the only time since the first month of the season that the Spurs put forth championship caliber effort. Dirk got fouled by Erick Dampier at one point and the refs whistled the nearest Spur, so the calls were ridiculous, but the Mavericks were clearly the more aggressive team from the opening tip and nobody can blame the zebras for rewarding that effort.
The Spurs as a team showed absolutely zero fire in this game and seemed completely unprepared to mount a comeback in this series, so they were going to lose one way or another. They have nobody to blame but themselves.
Borosai
04-28-2009, 11:38 PM
I think the Spurs are making a switch to even years now, but they couldn't win in '08 because that would mean a repeat, which is unacceptable. So, they'll win in 2010 and 2012, followed by the end of the world later that year. Spurs finish on top. Fitting.

Exactly! I don't think I've ever seen a Spurs team play with so little intensity in an elimination game. Except for Timmy, Tony, Bruce and George, the team just didn't seem to care.
Maybe they got a good deal on a vacation package - but it was only good thru April 30th. :rollin

I think Pop finally realized that relying on offense to win without a great defense will get him nowhere. Mason and Gooden looked bored as hell on the bench, but they really weren't going to help very much at that point.
Next year will be better.

Gee, I didn't see anyone saying that. How many pages back do we have to go? I guess you glossed over all the "Mavs are the better team" posts.
News flash: Your team's probably going to get assraped by the Nuggets. If you're going to swoop in here talking shit after you've been MIA all fucking season then you deserve to know the truth. At least you'll disappear when it happens like the little festering twat you are.

The Mavs beat us 2 straight. Now all we need to do is beat them 2 straight. Then we'll have Game 7.
Game 7 is anyone's, regardless of what the streak was of the Spurs coming into Game 7 (ex. people saying they can't win 3 straight, etc.)
