Former Sooners great, NBA player Tisdale dies after battle with cancer
College basketball legend, and my good friend and fellow Sooner, Wayman Tisdale passed Friday morning. Tisdale was just elected to the College Basketball Hall of Fame this year.
Tisdale's passing comes after a two-year battle with cancer. His leg was amputated a little over a year ago.
Tisdale, a three-time All-American at Oklahoma, spent 12 seasons in the NBA with the Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns

That sucks, I didn't follow his career except for when he played for the Suns and he did well. (better than any of the other POS scrubs the suns usually had in the past)

He had an even better career with the Kings (before joining PHX)

That sucks big time. I used to collect Wayman Tisdale basketball cards because for some inexplicable reason I was awesome when using him in NBA Jam. Damn.

That sucks, I guess I'm vaguely remembering about his diagnosis, but I didn't know he lost his leg. I wish it would have worked. RIP

Terrible news. Was a great person as well as great player. Peaked in College, but still had some very good seasons in the NBA. Talented Jazz musician as well... Sad...

Wow terrible news, i still remember when he got his leg amputated. He wasn't sad or anything, he looked like he was just happy to still be alive. It sucks that this happened to him, R.I.P. If there really is a heaven I hope he gets there.

Amazing the guy kept his spirits up through the whole thing. Don't know if I would've had his strength in that situation and I sure as hell admire him for it.

+1
I remember how he and Danny Manning took minimum-type contracts to come to the Suns in '94, and Jerry C. rewarded them later with bigger contracts. His best NBA years were obviously in Sacramento, but he still played very well for the Suns.
Like a lot of others, Jerry Colangelo says the thing he remembers about Wayman is "the smile." It's so sad that he's no longer with us at such a young age, but's he in a better place.

R.I.P
I remember watching that one special on TNT one time. That was the only time I've ever seen anything about him. I remember right after that going to his Wikipedia article and reading about him.
He seems like he was a really nice person to be with.
