Mcclinton is about a 1000x better shooter than Hill is. McClintons ability to pull up and drive with turnover ratio was off the charts. He is a really really underrated player.

I don't want to get too crazy on McClinton yet, his size bothers me.....

But his numbers for catch and shoot jumpers are insane.

I'm talking 1.7 points per possession, 56.8 FG%, 85%(!) adjusted FG%

His other numbers are pretty good too, but one thing is certain. The kid can shoot.

What is the difference between speed and quickness? Seriously.

Speed is the ability to move fast over longer distances. Quickness is the ability to move fast in the space of 2 feet or so.

Not bad overall but I thought the Spurs would use their last pick on a big. They must have a deal done and waiting for the July 8th deadline that will bring them another front court player. Right now we have TD, Bonner, Mihinmi and Blair. Not gonna go far unless we get Timmy so real help down low.

Um, we weren't going to find anyone that would be in the top 3 bigs in our rotation at picks 51 or 53.

This team is pretty much set now, just need to out and use the MLE on their big, whoever that may be, and call it a summer.

If De Colo doesn't sign with Spurs, he will go to Valencia. Valencia is coached by Neven Spahija, Pop's friend.

Does he have anything that won't allow him to play in summer league?

For the 2009 draft there are two French players that are on the minds of NBA scouts: teammates Rodrigue Beaubois and Nando De Colo. Beaubois has been mentioned by NBADraft.net since the 2007 draft, now it's time to introduce you to the player who has made huge strides over the past year: Nando De Colo (http://draftday.nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/nandodecolo.html).

Nando, a late bloomer, who over the last 15 months has become one of the premium European talents for the 2009 draft (currently projected to be drafted early in the second round (http://nbadraft.net/mocks/2009_nba_mock_draft.html).)

Over the last 12 months he has been rewarded for his play by being named an All Star and MVP of the top French Pro league and selected as a member of the French National team. With the French National team, he became one of the key players in the qualification rounds of Euro 2009.

Nando led the team in scoring prior to the arrival of Tony Parker, Diawara, and Turiaf (Parker did not participate in exhibition games due to fatigue, while Diawara and Turiaf were free agents and still finalizing their new contracts). Once the NBA veterans joined the team, he was no longer the focal point but remained a starter and has had strong performances such as the 28 points on 9 for 9 shooting he scored against Belgium.
Nando At 6-5, 190 lbs, is a combo guard who is a good shooter and a great passer for his height. In the last 6 months he has climbed the mock draft and will look to improve on that with an excellent season. Antoine Rigedeau, (French 2000 Silver medalist, Former Dallas Mavericks and European Star) had this to say about the young talent:

"He (Nando)'s a good player (who) can do it all. (He) can drive to the basket or take a pull-up jump shot in traffic. (He) can shoot threes and can play the pick and roll and one on one. He's explosive and has good feet quickness. He's really a good passer so he can score and make the others better. And his first quality is his brain...he's smart and really mature even if he played only one season as a professional."

He was the only guard in the draft with a score over 1.0 in every category. You run him in the backcourt with Manu or Mase or Marcus Williams and cross match on defense.

Oh, he'll probably play in Austin this year as a Spurs roster player, but that kind of scoring efficiency in a guard won't be kept out of the NBA.

Couldn't have asked for more out of this draft. I would have been happy to have seen the Spurs trade up to 23 to pick Blair. To get him at 37 is gold.

McClinton is a straight up shooter. This team can always use shooters.

De Colo is a very good talent for 53.

Great couple days for Spurs fans.

06-25-2009, 11:05 PM
I know Blair was supposed to go higher, maybe in the first round, but then why didn't he? You don't see many 6'6" power forwards in the NBA, especially those with 2 ACL operations.

People talk about wingspan as though it made up for lack of size. How many times do you see a 6'10 or 6'11 guy shoot over a shorter player before you realize it isn't how high you can reach but how high you can jump and reach.

Oh well, I hope he makes a good bench player. Most second round guys don't work out at all.

Why not develop him with heavy minutes at Austin? It's likely he won't get enough minutes this year if he stays in SA to learn enough. He needs to learn the system by immersion, and there's no better place for that than Austin.
