We've just learned Michael Jackson was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Los Angeles ... and we're told it was cardiac arrest and that paramedics administered CPR in the ambulance.

He was picked up at his home around 20 minutes ago -- we're told his mother is on the way to visit him.

UPDATE: The 911 call came in at 12:21PM at his Holmby Hills home in L.A.

Holy Crap! It's one thing with Ed McMahon and Farrah because everyone knew they were sick for a long time. But this is completely out of nowhere, very shocking.

I used to sit in front of the tv for hours waiting for MTV to play the "Thriller" video. I have that album on vinyl. I could have recited those lyrics by heart. No matter what he became later or how strange I thought his lifestyle was, his music was part of the soundtrack of my youth.

RIP, King of Pop.

I hate that he was a pedophile but, I believe about 99% of his problems were from his whack job dad while growing up and pretty much, not having a childhood what so ever.

CNN Says he was revived.....

(CNN) -- Entertainer Michael Jackson was taken to a hospital on Thursday after
suffering cardiac arrest, sources briefed on the situation told CNN.

Paramedics revived Jackson before taking him to the hospital.

Fire Capt. Steve Ruda told CNN a 911 call came in from a west Los Angeles residence at 12:21 p.m.

Ruda said Jackson was treated and transferred to the UCLA Medical Center.

Asked specifics of the patient's condition, the spokesman said he could not discuss them because of federal privacy laws.

The music icon from Gary, Indiana, was known as the "King of Pop."

Jackson was the seventh of nine children in a well-known musical family.

Michael Jackson is in a coma [Updated] (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/06/pop-star-michael-jackson-was-rushed-to-a-hospital-this-afternoon-by-los-angeles-fire-department-paramedics--capt-steve-ruda.html)

[Updated at 2:46 p.m.: Pop star Michael Jackson is in a coma and his family is arriving at his bedside, a law enforcement source told The Times.

Jackson was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center this afternoon by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

Fire Capt. Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a call at Jackson's home at 12:26 p.m. He was not breathing when they arrived. The paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and took him to the hospital, Ruda told The Times.]

[Updated at 2:12 p.m.: Paramedics were called to a home in the 100 block of Carolwood Drive off Sunset Boulevard. Jackson rented the Bel-Air home for $100,000 a month. It was described as a French chateau estate built in 2002 with seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, 12 fireplaces and a theater.

The home is about 2 1/2 miles, about a six-minute drive, from UCLA Medical Center. An earlier version of this post incorrectly described the time to travel between the home and hospital as two minutes.]

The news comes as Jackson, 50, was attempting a comeback after years of tabloid headlines, most notably his trial and acquittal on child molestation charges.

In May, The Times reported that Jackson had rented the Bel Air residence and was rehearsing for a series of 50 sold-out shows in London's O2 Arena. Jackson had won the backing of two billionaires to get the so-called "King of Pop" back on stage.

His backers envision the shows at AEG's O2 as an audition for a career rebirth that could ultimately encompass a three-year world tour, a new album, movies, a Graceland-like museum, musical revues in Las Vegas and Macau, and even a "Thriller" casino. Such a rebound could wipe out Jackson's massive debt.

I don't know why, but I somewhat believe TMZ because they probably have someone in the hospital they are paying off, while CNN is waiting on official word which won't come until they let the family come to the hospital. It would be in poor taste to notify the media before the family. That is why I think TMZ, as sleezy as they are, might be right on this one.

There had never been anything before like the Thriller LP when it came out, in terms of the combination of both hype AND quality. I remember being in a club when they threw on "Billie Jean" the first time. The whole place just went silent for a few seconds, then went nuts.

I hate that he was a pedophile but, I believe about 99% of his problems were from his whack job dad while growing up and pretty much, not having a childhood what so ever.
Eric..I agree with you 100%. I've been saying this for years. And it's a damn shame that it took him too long to realize he needed help and needed to step up and say something. :( I was a fan of his music, and it's so sad to see him go. When your father beats you for missing a note in a song, and you're not allowed to talk to anyone except your bandmates, you're going to have issues when you're under the age of 10 years old. Wow, what a shocker. I was shocked thet Farrah died (even though I knew that she's been sick for years.) Now, MJ. I'm not going to comment on his private life. He was a genious. Thriller was the first tape I got for my 10th birthday when I moved to the U.S. (along with a walkman). I used to listen to that album over and over.

What's amazing to me is how far the talent level of popular musicians has fallen in twenty years.

At least they've gotten prettier.

lol. My moms had an outpatient surgery procedure earlier today and when she woke up, apparently one of the first things that the RN told her was that MJ had died.

No, he's dead. Too many news outlets reporting it.

Correction...

He's as dead as Elvis. There will be those claiming to see him for centuries to come.

What an amazing performer that man was. :(

Looking at his lifestyle, he was obviously somebody who was trying to get back the childhood he was robbed of by his sonofabitch father, but I don't believe he went so far as to molest children to accomplish that goal.

RIP Michael.

That Thriller video/album was pure gold.

Paying $20+ million to sidestep the early 90s molestation charges was not.

That dude was seriously fucked up.

Did you hear he's not going to be cremated since he's mostly plastic? He will be melted down into legos so the kids can play with him for a change.

Neither do i. He was kind to children and i think some people tried to cash in on that with those lawsuits. That kid that ended up being part of the criminal trial, was on that TV special with Jackson and never said he did a thing improper on the show, than suddenly after it airs MJ is the devil himself. Whatever he got acquitted of all charges and i know so many still think he is guilty and i won't waste my time arguing it..

To me MJ is the best solo artist of all time. A career that will never be matched..
