Actually, the worst is the 6'5" 300+ pound fat piece of shit that plays at the UA rec center that camps in the paint knowing that I'm not going to be puss enough to call three in the key. He also has no post moves, he just backs into the person guarding him, which is usually me, knowing that offensive fouls don't get called in pickup games. I'm 6'2" 225, by no means small, and the day after I guard him I feel like I got fucked by a train.

Yeah for some reason I do ok when I'm switched onto quicker players. I'm not athletic at all but I've got this uncanny ability to stay in front of quicker players I'm guarding. Defense is the only reason I'm useful at all in pickup basketball.

My specialty is guarding the really lanky player that plays down low and likes to grab offensive boards. Whenever I guard that type of player he always gets frustrated.

I think that's what I'm going to do from now on. Back before I lost weight when I was a porker my friend would guard me and poke me in the back and it would drive me crazy, but whining about someone who weighs 100 pounds less than you playing dirty makes you look like a puss. It's like, cool, you can bench 225 but you weigh 325. Yeah it's great that the guy next to you benches 20 pounds less than you but weighs 100 pounds less than you.

I can lift a decent amount but really how much you can lift doesn't matter. Having the doctor tell you your health is good does more for you than being able to bench a lot.

I had to guard some middle age guy because I was the tallest on my team who smelled of rank piss a few months ago at the place I play. It was nauseating and giving me a slight headache. I really miss playing ball. We played a lot throughout HS and after that I spent a lot of time in a local health club and a few church leagues. I lost touch with a lot of the guys that I used to play with as we got older and that ended a lot of my playing. I have probably played pickup ball 10 times in the past 7 years.

My game has probably changed a lot though since I've put on a lot of size since HS(6'0 155lbs when I graduated...now I'm 230lbs). I guess you could say I was a late bloomer. In HS I was pretty much a SG without the handles. I had a pretty quick first step though...and if I could catch the defender off guard I could get to the rim pretty easy. I could drain 3's though. Now I am probably closer to Matt Bonner...the burly post guy that can shoot from the outside. :lol

Yeah for some reason I do ok when I'm switched onto quicker players. I'm not athletic at all but I've got this uncanny ability to stay in front of quicker players I'm guarding. Defense is the only reason I'm useful at all in pickup basketball.

My specialty is guarding the really lanky player that plays down low and likes to grab offensive boards. Whenever I guard that type of player he always gets frustrated.

Im no big shot. but pretty good i guess. I was third team all-area in North Dallas. And first team all-district. McDonalds all american nominee. Which honestly is not really a big deal. There are like over 1000+ of them nation wide. It was a struggle cause I really wanted to do everything. (track, basketball, football, wrestling, and soccer) and you just cant do that. I played club soccer with Dallas Texans. So i quit track and wrestling and stuck to my main 3 and favorites. I just had to stick to soccer cause of my Brazilian/African decent ya know? Then basically I went to college at UNT/ U of Sao Paulo. Got into in the whole rave/drug scene and now im a loser posting on NBA boards. Thats basically my life story lol. for tonight, put some waterproof bandages over the blisters and wear two or three pairs of socks tonight.

And they were both guarding me most of the time instead of one playing off for the rebound. 1 on 2 is hard! At one point the other two dudes were sitting on 21 and 19 and I had 4. The final score eventually ended up being 25-21-13(me).

Second game of 25 I lost 25-23(me)-6. The other two dudes called it quits and then these other two guys showed up and wanted to play. Not only were they both 6'5 and up, but I had dead legs by this point and got destroyed. This one was 25-23-3(me). Couldn't move by that third game.
