Man that was sweet, especially the dunk at 1:25.

What I like most about this video is the defense and the steals on Bryant. I remember that game and I recall that he also draw an offensive foul on Kobe on the first possesion he guarded him.

Kobe getting owned on Manu's first game... I remember reading somewhere that Kobe ended up asking Bruce: "Who is this guy" and Bruce said he came from Italy so then Kobe would try to practice his Italian with him :)

Thanks DAF

You're right, he injured his ankle against germany in the semis of the FIBA world championship prior the NBA season. And then he reinjured it against Houston during the regular season.

Manu is a serious baller. If I'm not mistaken Manu got two steals on Kobe late into that game and the other thing I remember was how Manu, Speedy, and Rose wreaked havoc off the bench.

Wow. Talk about memories!!!

All of Spur nation wishes the clock could be turned back, and the Gino and Duncan of 2003 or so could suit up now with the Spurs.

Duncan's last run is very surreal.

After Duncan, and Duncan's Spurs, every other Spur, and especially other NBA teams and players will be big step down.

There is only one Duncan, Gino, and Parker.

Aww thanks for the great memories:). Who can also forget this wicked dunk on three of the Lakers and I remember the between the legs pass Manu did to Robert Horry. Manu's had a lot of crazy highlights over the years against the Lakers. No wonder why Laker fans are hoping and praying that Manu's done and finished.

Thanks for that DAF! Hell of an impressive first game, and Manu looks sooooo young. :lol

any chance we can get speedy claxton back?

:p

I was thinking that too. A lot of people say he's an over-rated Spur, but no freakin way is he over-rated for that 2003 season - he was superb from March to June, and took over without a hitch from TP when he was flagging in the Finals.

I was there the night Speedy almost had a triple double after half time when Tony went out with an injury. TD stole his 10th rebound right from his hands (without knowing)! Twas still a good night though... :lol

Pity Speedy never really did anything else of note besides that 2003 run.

228,

Is that the game where Duncan asked AJ what music he likes, right before the tip off?

AJ was pumped up, if not too tense on the court before the tip off, because he thought a rookie named Bobby Jackson was overhyped, so AJ wanted to show him what the NBA is all about.
A few seconds before the referee sends the ball in the air, Duncan, noticing AJ is about to explode :lol, asks him: " what's your favorite kind of music "; AJ answers: "what? "
Duncan: " what's your favorite kind of music?"
AJ: " Umm....[insert type of music here] "
Duncan: " ok "

AJ admitted that Duncan helped him to relax and to play a good game.

I don't think it was that one.

Here's Duncan telling the story.

Over the years, I've learned I actually like viewing pressure situations comically so that they don't stress me out. AJ (Avery Johnson, to those lost souls that don't follow the Spurs closely) likes to tell a story all the time about how we were involved in a close game. He missed two or three lay-ups in a row and was starting to stress out. I just came over and asked him something out of the blue, something like, "What kind of music do you like to listen to?" He just looked at me real funny, like "What the heck are you talking about? Why isn't your mind on the game?" Then he looked at me, and I think he understood what I was saying. "It’s not a big deal. It happened. It’s gone. We can't change it now. Think about something else." He always tells people about that and laughs it off.

The announcer said that Manu told him that when he elevated himself to dunk; his ankle bothered him. So he has had ankle problems since he first came into the NBA,

Elliott (http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/topic/article/Sean_Elliott/1900-01-01/2100-12-31/mdd/index.htm), who is 6'8", was almost sure the Los Angeles Clippers (http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/topic/article/Los_Angeles_Clippers/1900-01-01/2100-12-31/mdd/index.htm), who had the second choice, were going to take him and trade him. This year with the Clippers on the clock, everyone was sure that Blake Griffin was the one. I remember saying, "Yeah, he should be the first pick, but with the Clippers, you never know."

When I read that line in the article, I just smiled and thought, "Even back then..."

What I want to know is, why does the video have the ESPN logo on the top right corner, but TNT's score and logo on the bottom right corner?
