A question to you spurs fans...
what are your toughts about Hill? What if Hill has a Allstar season, and other teams will try to land him...
let me tell you that Celtic fans have an eye for Hill..
You guys better not lose him. Do you guys think he will remain a spur forever with TP leading the show?

The idea that the Spurs would have a backup as an NBA All Star is pretty funny. We're not known enough, so it doesn't matter. But if that were to happen, no...I would definitely think Hill would take off and be a starter somewhere and make starter money, and I wouldn't blame him for a second.

he's going to cost money to retain, and rightfully soon. i have confidence that timmy will take the paycuts that are needed to retain him
and yes, george hill can stay a spur forever with TP leading the show. he can come off the bench (we'll still have manu for years) and play the 2-spot alongside tony
btw, if george hill left the spurs cause he wanted to start elsewhere, why would he want to go to boston were rajon rondo was starting?
It's hard to have an All-Star season when you're backing up one of the best point guards in the league. Hill will probably struggle to find the time to even get consideration, unless he produces like a madman in limited minutes, or plays well enough to get time at SG.

i think he has the potential to go to an allstar game at the 2 down the road when mason isnt on the team and parker is in the later years of his playing days, should be interesting to watch

Because we can't afford to have Rajon, this will be the last season before hes contract expires.....
we all have to wait and see what happends I guess
I agree with you Celtic fan. I am one of the few who thinks Hill has all-star potential. Next to tony he might not get there. The good thing is that he's a good kid, talented and respect his coach. I hope he can grow that potential in San Antonio, and Pop and the organization give him that chance. Maybe at SG, after Manu retires...dunno.
If not, I think he'll look it some place else.

I like Hills potential! If he had an allstar year as a PG backup, the Spurs are winning the championship!!
However i do believe that he will want to and will stay a spur because he can eventually be a combo guard, after Ginobili is done and possibly be starting!
No Team even knew this guy existed! So he has much respect for the spurs then to just leave for a few more change! Granted though, it takes an organization and the player to be able to reach that players highest potential!
I think Hill's dedication and physical and mental skills along with the Great Developing program the Spurs offer, will undoubtedly make him a very very special player!

Geez, Hill will be the 2nd guard off the bench after Manu and probably the 3rd or 4th player off the bench. What all star game are we talking about?

I think Hill has the potential to do much more then just come off the bench.
We are not talking about a allstar game.... have you actully read this thread?

??? Spurs have Hill this year AND next year just with team options, and he'll be restricted in 2011.
If you're looking to replace Rondo, and you want to do it cheap, Hill isn't your option. Spurs would certainly match any cheapo offers.

Well given that they are only 2 or 3 years apart!
The Spurs would be able to afford both of them!
Tim and Gino will probably be at the end of the road come that time, and young guys like Splitter, Ian, Hill, Blair and Parker will have had alot of Minutes under their belt with great players like Tim and Gino and Horry and Finely that will prove to be Priceless!

If he continues to progress like he has...ill take Hill in 3-4 years. tony takes a beating, plus all the deep playoff runs and intl play will take a toll on his body, once he loses that blazing speed he wont be nearly as effective. I think its imperative the Spurs keep Hill and groom him as the future floor leader.

What a damn stupid thread. :rolleyes
Hill is for the moment nowhere near an allstar and it's just impossible to know what his level will be in 3 or 4 years.
And Hill will be a restricted free agent in 2012.

I'll say this, if he keeps progressing annually he'll be sought after heavily by some teams.

I think the Spurs could use Hill alongisde Parker at times the way the Bulls used Derek Rose and Kurt Hinrich. One can be the calming influence and defender while the other can be the superstar PG.
Both can get the team into the offense so it gives you so many options. Can you imagine Parker running off screens with his speed. And Hill has the athleticism to finish above the rim once he gets into the paint.
I think the Spurs do what they can to keep him.

Unless the Spurs are really low on Hill, there's no way the Celtics can even think about getting Hill after this season. He still has a couple of years left with team options.

I'll just be happy seeing him get more playing time at PG this coming season and holding his own. More p[laying time will improve his confidence and consistency.. and keep working on improving his shot under Chip's tutelage.

You're obviously blind and obviously haven't been on these forums long enough...
Bruno is well ahead most Spurs fans here... and constantly updates us on a lot of stuff.
Allstar... Hill.... as a backup?
What an idiot.

Derrick Rose was a back up last year, and I think hes an all star, heck, hes prolly just as good as any Point guard in he league.
And players who do well in the playoffs and Dominate in the Summer league, things look bright...
WTF is your problem? you spurm fans are fucking annoying and always start shit

Derrick Rose was a #1 draft pick...
The Spurs rarely have Allstars due to the "boring" stamp.
I'll be surprised if Tony gets it again this year... and hes the finals mvp.
There is no way Hill will be a starter by the end of this year... as it is Pop takes care of everyones minutes...
Tony averaged 20 ppg last season... it takes just about that plus a big number of assists to make an All star team FYI.
There is no way Hill will do that.. not with the Spurs.. not with Tony... Duncan.. Jefferson.. Manu.. and now Mcdyess.
You're a retard.

Yep, agreed. Just look at the idiot who started it. But, we need to give him some slack because his 'old' Celtics won their only championship of the 21st Century and probably the only one for decades to come. His only claim to fame is he likes to call the Spurs...Spurms. Nice little Jr. High kid acting 'tuff' on the playground. Course the only other kids on the playground were 1st graders.

We have George for 2 years guarantee and 2 years team option. He completed 1 yr, this upcoming season will be 2nd. Lets say Hill turns out to have a breakout season, coming off the bench. Maybe not all stars level but a 6th Man award for him should be achievable.
We will extend him for 2 more yrs by which the front office can either do
1. Convince TD to leave some money on the table to sign Hill since his contract expires before Hill
2. Jefferson does not resign and we gives the money to Hill
3. We have the Bird's right to Hill so we go over the lux tax for a couple of season to wait for TD and Manu to retire and we have TP, Hill, Jefferson, Blair as our new Fab Four.

some Spurs fans are really pretty annoying and always start shitty threads one after another, like that retarded Portuguese Rapper. Derricks Rose has enough potential to set his name at an equal line with names like CP3, Kidd, Nash and D-Will, not to mention Tony Longoria. Even so, the expectation still seems pretty unpractical when a sophomore is expected to do what Magic Johnson did in his second year. After all, dude was just a backup last year and he should be content to get promoted to the starting lineup for next season, thanks to Gordon's leaving.

no he can play the two....if parker loses his speed then he loses A LOT of his disadvantage over all the PGs he has now...i think hill has A LOT of potential

A lot of people are putting to much into the summer league play of Hill. I am happy he did so much better this year then last but to say he is going to replace Tony or be an All Star is an illusion at best.
To be honest I am just hoping that he can give us ten minutes of good defense, not turn the ball over, and hit a few open shots. When he can handle full court pressure then maybe we can talk about sixth man....
